Hi everyone!

Today is the first time that I am posting to these boards although I have been reading for awhile. I have been some great great info, Hopefully now I will be able to help someone else.

Anyway, my questions....

I finally have my docs in hand for our first seven-day cruise with the kids (DD8 and DS10) ( and my parents) on the Dec 11 Magic. We have done a 3-day on the Wonder two years ago.

Since I have my parents with me, I thought that DH and I should try Palo, sine we never even saw the place on the 3-day. (also maybe get a res for mom and dad) I just don't know what night (or bunch or tea) to try to get because I don't want to miss to much with the family. Not to mention, I am confused with pirate night, formal night, etc.. Any suggestions would be helpful.

My second question is that I am thinking about trying to get the Cabana massage at CC. I never has a massage before and I think it is because I am somewhat modest. What do I wear? Help!

One more thing that I just thought of....
I have a collapsible hamper. What are the benefits of bringing that?

Thanks you in advance for your thoughts!

Welcome officially to posting on the boards!

Question #2 Massage
I think that massage is a wonderful experience. Remember that the person doing it is a trained professional and he or she will never make you feel exposed. Your entire body is draped in a sheet and they only move the sheet aside to work on an area. You will have to disrobe to a minimum of your bra and underwear. If you chose to wear your bra, your therapist may ask if he/she can unhook it when rubbing your back (this afterall is the point of the massage). If you choose to leave your underwear on the therapist may ask if you would like them to move them down slightly with the sheet to fully rub your lower back or you may say in the beginning that you prefer that they do not.

I don't consider myself immodest but if I'm paying that kind of money for a service, I prefer to wear nothing. You undress when they are out of the room. You get under the sheet laying face up or face down depending on what area you want to start with and then you just relax and don't have to think about it. Then like I said if they are working on your back you are laying on a table so none of your front is exposed and your bottom half remains covered by a sheet. So the therapist never "sees" anything. If you do a search on this topic you will find that people discuss their various comfort levels of undress and can get some other opinions.

#3 Collapsable Hamper
This is very handy for keeping your room tidy. You can put it in the corner and have a place for all of your dirty clothes. Also, if you choose to do laundry on the ship it makes carrying your clothes to and from the laundry room a lot easier. I think the biggest advantage is just keeping that small space you are in organized.

Have a great trip!

Thanks for your thoughts.

So if I go the bra and underwear route then I guess I can bring my bathing suit with me and change into it on the island so I don't have to go back on the ship, right?

I have a suggestion that you may want to consider for Palo. Since you have your parents with you, you may want to consider going to Palo halfway between the show and the regular dining room dinner. Here is how this would work:

If you are in early seating:
Get a 6:45 reservation for Palo. Go to dinner with your family at 6:00, spend time with them, have a salad and something to drink if you would like, but then head to Palo at about 6:40 or so. Then you should be finished before the show at 8:30 and you can rejoin the rest of your family.

If you are in late seating:
Get a 7:30 reservation for Palo. Go to the show at 6:30, then head to Palo as soon as the show is over. After your Palo dinner, head back to the regular dining room to meet up with the rest of your family where you can spend additional time (and even have an extra dessert if you are feeling up to it)

You could do this pretty much any night, but I would refrain from doing it on the night that you will be in Animator's for the first time, since you may not want to be coming and going during the "show". If your parents wanted to go to Palo, they could do the same thing on a different night.

Thanks for your idea. It actually sounds like a great one! Now I just need to figure out what nights would be best.

Say I pick formal night, do you think we will still be able to get our pictures taken? Is pirate night Wedensday? And it replaced tropical night?

Back to your massage questions. Not sure what kind of swimwear you wear, it might be fine for the massage too. Like if it's a bikini style it would be the same as bra and underwear. I have never worn a bra but I'm thinking there is a possibility of some of the massage oil getting on it so you might want to wear an older/cheaper one (might not be an issue).

But yes, you could bring a tote/beach bag filled with whatever you wanted so you wouldn't have to go back to the boat.

gizmosammy,
Welcome to DIS! We are also on the Dec. 11 Magic - Me, DH, DD10 & DS 7. You should come join our thread on the Cruise Meets board.

Tropical night is on Tuesday. You should still be able to take formal pictures even if you go to Palo that night. They were taking pictures all evening last year, starting at about 5:00.

I will try to work my way over to the cruise meets board. Just something else I will figure out.

Do they take the "formal" pictures with the characters every night on the seven night cruise? I am getting confused. On the three night cruise our pictures with the characters were when we were the most dressed-up, for Triton's.
