We are going to DLR in Oct. We will be coming into Ca on the 40 then the 15. Our problem is due to health and medication issues, my father who will be on his first Disney trip, has to take sudden and frequent bathroom breaks. If the freeways are OK then not an impossible situation but if we get backed up or jammed then it could turn ugly fast. So rather than risk getting stuck on the 15 or 91, I was thinking of getting off on foothill in Rancho Cucamonga, then taking Euclid south to Edison going west on Edison/Grand through Chino Hills to Diamond Bar Blvd then to Brea and over to Harbor. I know this will take a lot more time but we have all day. We will be getting to the IE about 6am on a Saturday. Don't need to be to our hotel until early afternoon. We will be stopping for breakfast and maybe the Nixon library. Is this route safe? Does it go through any really bad neighborhoods? How long should this way take? I was thinking 2 hrs or so from RC to Harbor Blvd. Please let us know what you think of this plan. Any other routes you have used would also be appreciated

I'm not familiar with your route in detail, but have a general idea of what you want to do. Taking surface streets from Rancho to DLR will take a long time (your 2 hour guestimate might be low). The route is quite safe and doesn't go through any crime infested areas that I know. In fact, just the opposite -- the areas you mention are very comfortably affluent. But if you can stay on the freeway as long as possible, that would make for a much quicker, easier ride to Anaheim. The 91 can be a nightmare with morning rush hour, so it might be better to take the 15 to the 60 or the 10, then to the 57. I don't know what time they open, but Rancho is not far from the Ontario Mills Outlet Mall, where there is a Disney Store outlet (people report finding park merchandise there, too). Hope this info is helpful. Oh, and if you decide to eat breakfast near Rancho, look for Kickback Jack's (http://www.kickbackjacks.com) -- they are famous for their blueberry pancakes.

Euclid has allot of lights. Diamond hills is a nice neighbor hood last time I was there. Just allot of stop and go that route. Harbor will have enough places for restrooms. I have felt driving through those routes just fine. I have drove those streets many times. Just time consuming.

I would suggest staying on the freeway. It really depends on the time of day, but Saturday morning you should be fine.

Also, if you got the Nixon library, keep in mind that the bathrooms are all in the front lobby. I don't remember there being any in the back, but it took us a good 2 hours to get through museum.
