Help with online checkin for Polynesian

I'm trying to select online check in for Polynesian and it's asking me if I have a room preference. We already have our reservations and are arriving in 3 weeks so I thought online checkin would be easier than front desk. The room request choices are balcony, ground floor, upper floor, near elevator, near transportation, Aotearoa Building. I have no idea what the Aotearoa Building is. What is the best choice? I have 3 kids and my husband. Kids are 12 yo, 10 yo and 5 yo. I'm guessing near an elevator is going to be loud so I'm thinking that's out. Anyone stayed here and have a good idea? Our reservation is for a standard view room. I don't want to choose anything either that will cause me to have to pay more as this is already and arm and a leg.

It's also asking about a hotel PIN. What do I need a PIN for? It says I need to talk to the hotel lobby about changing it, but I don't think I ever set it up.

Thanks!

It normally is. Just be aware that you may still have to stop by the Front Desk. But even if you do it will be very quick.

There is no best choice, just personal preference. Although balcony is a good selection as some of the buildings, the rooms on the 2nd floor don't have one. And you don't have to make ANY choice if you don't want to. We always skip that section and IF we have any room requests I call the Main Reservations line and add them to our reservation.

That will not happen. They would never put you in a different room category that you would have to pay more for just because of a request.

If you would like to be able to use your Magic Band to charge purchases to your room, you need to set up a PIN for charges over $50.

You won't be moved to a room outside of your category unless you get some magical pixie dust.

It's been awhile since I've stayed at the Poly but I don't remember any of the buildings being so big that being far from the elevator was an issue. I would choose away from an elevator for quiet. I prefer a higher floor as I feel the first floor tends to have more noise and traffic.

The PIN is what allows you to charge to your magic band. You can set that up when you get there.

I realize it's all personal preference. I just thought maybe someone who has stayed there has an idea how far away transportation typically is or if one choice of room was better than another. Thanks!

We are going back to the Poly next month. I request either first floor or third floor/balcony. Everything else is not really a priority for my selections. There is no bad building at Poly, everything is pretty centrally located, it is a fairly small resort by Disney standards. You need to set up a PIN number for your magic bands so that you can use it to charge things, just like you would bank card. It's very easy to do, you can use the app or do it at the front desk. If I were you, I would check in at the Great Ceremmonial House to make sure everything is taken care of, get a map and a lay of the land. It won't take long. I hope you have a great trip! I'm less than thirty days now, and I can't wait to be back.

Near transportation is iffy....you have buses, down on the street level by the front entrance, the monorail station on the second level of the main building, and the boats, off to the far side. I used to request Tokelau...my favorite longhouse, but that's been converted to DVC studios. There are no 'bad' longhouses...just depends on what you prefer. The longhouses that aren't DVC are all fairly close to the Grand Ceremonial House (main bldg) and transportation. I would just try to decide what level you prefer. I like a balcony so usually request that, and an upper floor. I don't like being on the ground level since I travel alone so often.

My favorite longhouse is Niue for a standard room, 1st floor facing the main pool. Niue is close to the pools and the GCH. A patio/balcony is important to us, the 2nd floor of some of the longhouses do not have a balcony.

As previous posters stated, there is no bad longhouse. It's not hard to get around at all.

The Poly is one of our favorites, have a great time!

We stayed at the Poly in a standard room in Aotearoa, 3rd floor, overlooking the monorail. It took us less than 2 minutes to walk to the main building, including walking down the stairs. Maybe 5 minutes to the buses and boats, and that was usually because we'd get distracted by something in the lobby or looking at the pool. We liked Aotearoa because it was quiet and the vegetation gave us a little bit of privacy. We loved the building's location, but you really can't go wrong at Poly. Have fun!
