Help with november

So, have loved our two recent trips but poor DH has still never been to Universal. Thinking of a long weekend in November. Dont want the girls to miss more than 1 -1.5 days school since we may take one or both of them out later in year. So, first was thinking Nov 5-8 but then thought the XMAS decorations would be nice but the first weekend is Veterans weekend. So how would the friday before thanksgiving be? WOuld fly late thursday and come back sunday before thanksgiving... THoughts? Suggestions? Advice? Would plan to book one of the deluxe for xpress passes.

Went the weekend before thanksgiving last year for the meetup. The parks weren't too bad during the day and it was great to see the decorations.
