Ok I have a few questions about memory maker. We have used photo pass in the past but we want memory maker for ride pictures this time.
Please answer the questions as detailed as possible because I'm really not catching on.

1. When do I buy it? We have a free dining package for Nov 16-26.
2. What does it mean when it says link it? I have my disney experience with my DH and kids all listed under family and friends so are they linked?
3. How do I get the ride photos and movies?
4. We are meeting another family that's never been there before. They also are getting MM so can we get some pictures with them or how does that work?

Thank you in advance!!

You can buy it in advance or you can buy it when you get here up to you. However, I always recommend you get everything done before your trip though.

Think of memory maker like a ticket or "entitlement". It links to one person. That person is in control of the pictures and can send them out - put them on social media, etc. So everyone in your party can view them and add to them (your tw party - those in your room who are listed as family and as this person travels with me often).

It depends on the ride. Mine train and ToT will automatically give you the movies. ToT you use the touch points (and most rides you use the touch points). Your friends will be the same way. You can be in each others pictures and send each other pictures, but note it is "one ring to rule them all" kind of deal.

To take advantage of the pre-purchase price, you need to buy it at least 3 days in advance. So if you want to do it, no reason not to buy it now. Just keep in mind they no longer offer refunds if you don't like the pictures.

Memory Maker is the equivalent of the old Photopass CD, or the more recent Photopass+, with the exception that it only includes downloads of your pictures. If you did those in the past, you had to add the different Photopass cards for all the different people to get their pictures in your account. Adding someone as a Family & Friend, and having them make sure it is set to "Share Photos" is the equivalent. Anyone in your party should be all set already, especially any kids whose accounts you are managing.

Linking MM to someone means that persons account will need to be used for all the editing/downloads. So if you are going to be the one who is most likely to do that, don't link it to your spouses account.

When you are ready to start downloading your pictures, you will actually activate Memory Maker at that point, and it should be fairly obvious how to do so in your Photopass account. Then you will have 30 days to download pictures. Some people will activate it while still on their trip, this will let them do things like download a picture from an early Dec trip to send to Shutterfly to do holiday cards with. Other people will take the whole 45 days to edit their pictures, then activate it and download them all. How you do it is up to you.

If you have the other family linked as Family & Friends, all your pictures will show up in each others account. This means if you do a group photo, they will only scan one band, but as long as your are linked, then everyone will see the picture. You technically don't both need to have MM, if everyone is linked, and one person is comfortable doing all the editing/downloading for both families. Just throwing that out there.

I have one more question. We won't actually be staying at Disney or using our 10 day tickets until Nov 16. We are flying into Orlando on the 12 but we are probably going to get MVMCP tickets for the 13 or 15. Can I use the same Memory Maker or do I have to buy it twice? I won't have my magic band by then so what happens then?

It is possible to have it work for multiple trips. The Photopass pictures themselves will stay active in your account for 45 days. Your Memory Maker will let you download pictures for 30 days. So technically you could have 75 days pass between your first pictures being taken, and the last pictures, and you can download them all. You would wait until day 45 to activate MM, and then download the existing pictures, and you can then have new pictures added for the next 30 days, just need to download them before that 30 day counter runs out. Since your total trip seems like it's going to be less than 20 days or so, you are definitely covered under the same MM entitlement.

My daughter is going to Disney with school. They are staying on property however they are not getting magic bands. They get tickets but are the paper ticket. My question is can I buy memory maker before she goes but link it to MDE and have her use her old magic band?
