help with mechandise!!

Everywhere you go around and in Disney there is merchandise! We usually rent a car so our 1st trip for "disney stuff" is to the outlet malls and the charcter Premier store there. My mom bought me a cool night shirt in Feb for 25.00 (love it) they had the same night shirt in May at the outlet for 11.00. It is hit or miss but I seem to always find something! If you trade pins then that is a great place to buy traders!

We were told to go to SSR as that was the first DVC resort and would have the most DVC gear!! VERY DISAPPOINTED!!!! And even more so with the resort itself!! We stopped there on our last day as we were leaving so I could get a shirt and a magnet or sticker for my truck. I hated the new shirts, fortunately they had a few old style shirts and I bought a larger size as they didn't have my size and then shrunk it when I got home!! They had no decals or magnets for my truck!!

And to top off our stop at SSR we ended up parking near the main DVC office area thinking they would have the gear there. So as we walked up we saw a DVC CM standing at a podeum outside and asked where the shop was. This was the one and only CM that I dealt with that was RUDE and unhelpful. I would have though I asked him to hold my hand and escort me to the DVC shop!! He just told me I had to go to the lobby shop and pointed and said it's that way. Well, it sure would have helped to have more information then that and we fortunately met another CM that gave us good directions!!

When we got to the SSR shop they had few things there DVC, and it was attached to the CS meal area. SO we decided to stop and eat there as we had DDP CS meals left. The food was good, the CM's were nice, and the dining area was the dirtiest place I was at in WDW!! Food under the table that had obviously been there for awhile.

So, anyway, now that you have my exhausting story, I would not waste your time going to SSR for DVC items!! You may have better luck purchasing online!!! http://www.dvcnews.com/index.php/dvc-for-beginners-program-information-160/279?task=view

SSR is actually the 5th onsite DVC resort. OKW was the very first DVC resort. And sorry, there isn't a great selection of DVC or even resort specific merchandise right now. Disney is concentrating on character/general Disney merchandise now, and is even ignoring resort specific merchandise for their own cash resorts. There were a couple of shirts at OKW last week, but nothing exciting in the way of DVC specific merchandise.

I found the most complete selection of DVC gear (at least in March) to be at the AK Jambo shop and the Beach Club Marketplace. As Chuck said, there isn't exactly a wide variety of DVC merchandise, though. Resort-specific items are almost extinct. My favorite items have been recent purchases, though - a hooded pullover made of 2 layers of very soft knit cotton jersey with a vintage (or at least distressed), sewn-on DVC patch on the front. Nice - not as heavy as a sweatshirt but a little more "ooomph" than a t-shirt. There's also a cute pink short-sleeved, fitted t-shirt that says DVC in big, bold letters. (and a more guy-friendly version in blue) I also got a keychain that has a DVC logo charm and a dangling "DVC" that looks like the same letters that are on the two t-shirts I just described. And if you are lucky, you'll find the 4-pin set available to members only with a BLT, AKV-Kidani, SSR Treehouses and OWK pins in it.

Other standard merchandise includes shot glasses, mugs, decals, magnets, luggage tags, hats, fleece pullover, somewhat plain t-shirts...I'm sure there are other things, but I'm drawing a blank. Not all resorts have all these items, though.

Thank you to the member who sent the link with the merchandise. I did see some things that I liked. Too bad nothing for BLT.

In November they had 2 BLT shirts. They didn't say DVC on them and the design was very plain - just the BLT name with the little loop of monorail around it. Actually, the 2 shirts were the same, but one was light blue and apparently intended for women and the other was a darker blue and apparently for men. They did not meet my "will I wear this" standards. ;) Aside from those 2 shirts, the only other BLT merchandise I've ever seen was the 4-pin set I mentioned above that includes a BLT pin. I certainly wish they'd offer more! (In fact, a big deal was made about the cool Disney artwork in the villas and the fact that you'd be able to buy versions for home, but nothing has ever materialized.)

We just got back from WDW and were surpised by how little DVC merchandise there was. We were at AKV & BWV over our 11 nights and looked high and low for DVC merchandise to commemorate our first DVC trip to WDW. Aside from the pin set and the items given away at Welcome Home Wed. (hats & cooler/chair) we came home without any other DVC souveniers.
