I posted another word problem awhile ago, and i had a few people offer to have me PM them if i had any more problems--well of course, i deleted the PMs and have no clue who they were...so if anyone could help me, id really appreciate it..
im copying this exactly out of the book--i know a long , really long way to solve this, but i was wondering if theres a way to do it that wont do what im thinking i have to do..thanks in advance!!

Students at an elementary school decided to try an experiment. Each student will walk into the school one at a time. The first student will open all of the first 100 locker doors. The second student will close all of the locker doors with even numbers. The third student will change all the locker doors (open the ones that are closed, close the ones that are opened) with numbers that are multiples of three. The fourth student will change the position of all locker doors numbered with multiples of four. The fifth student will change the positions of the lockers that are multiples of five and so on. After 100 students entered the school, which lockers will remain open?

any ideas? thanks!!

Just curious, but what grade level is this question intended for?

well im in college, but the class is for us to learn how to teach children when we graduate---she didnt specify a grade, but she likes to have us do the problem ,then she shows us different ways to do it

My guess would be that they all would be closed but I can't explain why I think so. I stink at explaining math. Thankfully DD gets stuff without explaining or I'd be in trouble since we homeschool!

There is probably a simple way to do it, maybe having to do with even/odd relationships and permutations or some such thing. Really I have no clue other than to draw a picture. Some help I am, huh? In first grade, were just trying to master "take away," so this is kinda over my head right now. Though in my college days I could probably do it!

Yes, I am an advanced 1st grader! So advanced they let me teach the class!

Blueeyes101817, I was one of the people who helped you last time. I think you're set here since you have the website, but i'm going to hit my older kids up with this one when they roll out of bed this morning. Feel free to save my name or post again--I tend to be here more in the days, when I have one kid, than the nights, when I have dance, gymnastics, karate, scouts, soccer, play rehearsal... you get the idea!
