This will be our first time staying at Kidani. We have a dedicated 2BR Savannah View villa booked on my points for this summer.

Ideally we want a great Savannah view (giraffe viewing being high on our list), but also don't want to be too far from pool area or buses. (We like to swim, won't have a car, and a member of our party needs to limit walking distances.)

How would you Kidani experts suggest I word my request? Thanks in advance!

The prototypical Kidani request is low floor, near lobby, Sunset Savanna

Low floor gets you closer to animals.
And they generally do the best feeding near the lobby to ensure more animal activity near the lobby.
Sunset is the main Kidani savanna (about 80% of rooms) and has giraffe.

Plan to spend different times of the day in the room for best animal watching. Sunset savanna has a morning animal checkup where they leave to their vet barn. Animals are most active for their evening feeding (near sunset)

There are two savannas at Kidani, Sunset, the very large savanna which has 80% of the savanna view rooms and has giraffes, and Pembe, the much smaller savanna which does not have giraffes. Thus, one possible request is Sunset savanna view. As to location, the Kidani building is very long (about 3/4 mile end to end). There are two wings, north and south, and tthe pool is of the north wing and the bus stop off the south. Getting close to one usually means not being that close to the other.

If close to pool is more important, I would request a room near the Rafiki elevator which is one of the three elavators on the north wing (down it to ground floor gives you shortest possible walk from building to a gate entrance to the pool area). However, that will leave you some, but not a real long, walk to the bus stop. If close to the bus stop is preferred, request either near the Timon elevator or near Community Hall, which will put you on south wing with a very short walk to an exit door that leads right to the bus stop. Views from those areas are fine and those requests need to be made through Members' Services.

I would avoid requesting close to lobby. If you were to get that, it would also be fine both for being fairly close to pool and bus stop and for views. However, there have now been a huge number of members who have stayed at Kidani and been stuck in rooms near the end of the wings. The lesson learned by those members is that they never again want to be in those rooms near the end of the wings because of the long walks to lobby, pool, restaurant, and bus stop. If you want an example of how long the walks are, think of it this way: the walk from an end room on the north wing to the bus stop is about the same distance as walking from the base of the World of Nations, after coming over from Future World, to Germany. Those members now usually request close to lobby. Moreover, close to lobby is one of the requests you can make when doing online check-in that applies mainly to cash guests. The result is that there have now been many reports of those who have requested close to lobby not getting that request met, and, instead, ending up back in those rooms near the end of the wings, because the resort's default position, when it cannot meet a location request, is not to look for something fairly close to what you requested, but instead stick you in any available room anywhere in the resort (which is usually those rooms far from the lobby).

We are one of those that were recently placed at the end of the Kidani hallway. In spite of me telling them I was in a wheelchair due to an injury and requesting closer to transportation, we were put as far away as possible on the 5th floor. I felt bad for my DH, as he was my primary pusher. It was so horrible that we have vowed to never stay at Kidani again in spite of owning at AKV. Too bad ..... Seemed like a nice place.

We had a two bedroom dedicated on the third floor, Sunset Savannah, near Timon elevator. Loved this location as higher floors give a tree top view. Timon elevators have an exit right by the bus stop so it was really quick. It is a bit further to the pool, as OP said the pool and bus stops are on opposite ends of the resort. We chose closer to the bus stop since we did that walk every day when going to parks, and we didn't go to the pool every day. Have fun! Just be prepared for some walking in the resort, and you will be fine. Maybe it didn't seem so bad to us because last year we stayed in a 2 bedroom suite (not villa) at GCH on a cash reservation, and had to walk from the very end room all the way around (but I sure did love the wrap around balcony that overlooked the monorail and World of Disney!!).

We tried to get a Savannah view, but none were available. Any standard views that might overlook the Savannah?
