We're going to be staying at Kidani SV studio for 2 nights at the beginning of our May trip.
I'm so excited to be staying there!

We arrive late the first night and are probably not going to the parks for the days we are there, just hanging around the pools and exploring the resorts. i'm worse than kids ;) I'd like a room where I'd be able to see animals well.... can you give me some input.... floor, area whatever, I don't know if some areas are better than others.

Thanks for the help :surfweb:

Is your studio a "savannah" view? If yes, you'll see animals.

The building has 5 floors, and I believe the rooms are on the 2nd-5th floors. We were on the 4th floor and the view was great. In honesty, the lower rooms have some advantage, as you can see further through the savannah. Kidani has two savannah's - one has zebras, giraffes, wildebeast, etc. and the other has a different assortment of animals. I would recommend the "large" savannah with the zebra, etc. Personally, the most important request I would ask for, would be requesting a room near the lobby. The rooms that are far away, are REALLY REALLY far away! Literally a 10-15 minute walk down a long corridor! Ask for something near the lobby.

yes it is savannah view, I just didn't know if specific areas were better viewing, like feeding areas where they came in closer?

and lower floors are better?

and lower floors are better?

In my opinion lower floors are better. When we visited we did not think to request this and our room was above the treeline which blocked some of the view of the animals wandering throughout the trees. We were on the Sunset Savannah and happened to be on the side closest to Jambo House. We actually found this to be a benefit because we loved the dining options at Jambo and it made it a very short walk between the 2. Of course this meant the walk to the Kidani pool was a bit longer than I would have liked. Either way there is a bit of a tradeoff.

Thanks!
I guess with every resort there are trade-offs, it's just a matter of which matter to you the most
.... so lower room more animals, check,

now... pool.. or food... pool or food...:lmao:

Thanks!

Haha - decisions decisions. I should also note that where are room was located was about as close to the Kidani Pool as the Jambo Pool. So if you plan on going to Jambo house a lot this might be a good choice and give you 2 pool options...

oh NO!
too many choices!
Thanks for the tips

:dogdance:

( well , not something I'll see on the Savanah...but it is an animal ha ha)

I read about requesting the lower floors, but didn't know about being near the lobby.. will have to add that request on.

What is in the lobby to be around? Is there anything that I should know about staying here? Any secrets that you can share?

We are going down in August for 3 days before a cruise.. not sure we are doing the parks.. but wanted to stay and relax.. but have a 14 yr old to keep happy was well..

Closer to the lobby means closer to the buses, closer to the gift shop (and drink fountain for your refillable mug), closer to the pool, closer to the fitness center, closer to the arcade, etc...

I have to echo to get a lower level room for savannah view. We have stayed at Kidani a few times and the best room we ever had was on the same floor as the lobby and just a few doors down.

We're actually here right now but in a standard view overlooking the pool on the 4th floor. This is our first standard view room (every other time we have had savannah) but other than the annoyances that accompany a handicap accessible room, it is fine. We see the animals in the window from the hallway and outside in the viewing area.

It is downright HOT today. We are loving that! :) The older kids enjoyed the pool this afternoon and it was packed!

We are having a great time but my 3 year old spiked a fever today so we had to head back to the room to get him some medicine and let him rest. I think he has an ear infection but if he isn't feeling better tomorrow we will take him to a minute clinic before we drive home.

Do you have a car? I think if you have a car, you don't need to be close to the lobby, just close to the elevator/stairs to the parking garage. Do you eat at the resort? We find that we usually eat at the parks, so the dining issue is not an issue for us. It is easy enough to go back and forth between the two resorts. Take any park bus from Kidani an get off at Jambo, take DTD bus or walk back! I know there is listing somewhere that tells you which animals are where- check that out and then I would request being on that savana.

He didn't go in the pool - just the girls. He gets ear infections sometimes so this may just be one of his usual ones. Thanks for the well wishes. :) Enjoy your stay at Kidani. We love it here!

So it doesn't matter, Kidani or Jambo house. Just request a lowere level room?

At Jambo, you are limited to the 5th floor (or 6th if you are staying Club level). That's why for animal viewing some prefer Kidani; you can get views closer to the animals not blocked by trees. Of course there are lots of public viewing areas at both resorts.

We are at Kidani.......

Are the viewing areas like open balconies or glass enclosed?

The rooms have open balconies. The viewing areas are outside but you can also see the animals through huge floor to ceiling windows in the hallways between the rooms.

Here is a pix of DS3 on our balcony from our Thanksgiving trip.

LEt me echo the comment about requesting near the lobby. From the lobby to the end of the rooms to the left of the lobby (ie away from jambo), it is more than a quarter mile. That's half a mile round-trip to get a DVD rental or whatnot. Looong way!
