Help with inexpensive dinner idea and dessert please!

Hey guys! DD's boyfriends grandma is very sick and in the hospital. We just found out last night. I was wanting to make them dinner and dessert for tonight so they won't have to worry about what to do for dinner. We don't have a lot of extra money in our budget, so can anyone suggest nice & inexpensive dinner/dessert ideas??!

Lasagna or baked ziti type dish is fairly inexpensive and easy. You can add a bag of salad and garlic bread. Cake/cupcakes or cookies are always good. You can make or buy a package. There is a lot of fruit in season to make them fairly inexpensive. Always a good healthy dessert.

I was also going to suggest something "italian", in our family - we like Ziti a lot better than Lasagna. Let me rephrase that - ziti is easier to make - IMHO!


Depending on your budget - you could get a loaf of french or italian bread too.

I love the idea of fruit for dessert. I know right now that in my neck of the woods - they have great deals on watermelon (halves and quarters), and that might not be too expensive. Also - in my neck of the woods - strawberries are very in-season. While you could do something fancier - you couldd just do strawberries to!
