Okay you guys! We need some help. We have never been to this show that I hear so much about. I understand that it is good food with a show.

What should we expect?
What type of food?
What type of show?

How long is the show?

They suggest that we get there 30 minutes early. Do we really need to be there that early?

We will be staying at Swan. What type of transportation do you suggest? Bus, or take our own car????

Just a few questions. Thanks for the help!!

Transportation - if you have a car then that's your best bet to getting there.

Food - there are ribs, fried chicken, corn (not on the cob), salad, bread, baked beans and strawberry shortcake for dessert.
You have unlimited beer, sangria, soft drinks, milk

The show is great it's a lot of corny jokes and singing but all in great fun. We have been twice and are looking to go back again on our next trip. It lasts about 1 1/2 hours with a brief intermission in the middle.

I don't know if you can pick up your tickets at the Swan for the show. If you can't then getting there 30 minutes early is the way to go. There may be a line to pick up your tickets and check in. You have to pick up your tickets at least 15 minutes prior to show time.

I agree with driving yourself. You will still have to park in the main Ft. Wilderness parking lot and then catch a bus to Pioneer Hall, so allow enough time.
The food is good, but not great. We enjoy the fried chicken and salad the most - the rest of the food is average. The show, however, is great fun for all ages.
If you are considering the Hoop-dee-Doo, make your reservation right away, because seat assignments are made on a first-come, first-served basis. You can always cancel if you decide not to go.

We like to take the boat over from the MK - we usually stay at the Poly, so it's easy, and we like to go to the MK after the show if it's open that late. It's just a short walk from the dock to Pioneer Hall. It's such a pleasant ride, and that way you're not driving around after those unlimited sangrias and beers!;)

I'm echoing Hayley. It is a pleasant boat ride to Fort Wilderness from the Magic Kingdom and it is a scenic walk to Pioneer Hall. If the fireworks at MK are at 10:00 pm that evening a 7:30 reservation will put you on Main Street in plenty of time. On our last trip our captain stopped the boat so we could have a prime view of the Electric Water Pageant. Or take a carriage ride after.

If you arrive early there are plenty of things to do or see at the resort. They will take your families picture before you enter the hall so smile pretty

Hope your trip is fabulous!
:D :D

I read there is a launch from the Contemporary to FW---this is correct, right?? I think I read it in Passporter so I'm pretty sure it's valid. Can't wait to see the show! I booked it last May so I'm hoping for good seats. :jester:

Yup you can catch a boat from the Contemp to FW. The show is great and we found the food good. Even if you are early I agree with the others, there is plenty to do and there's a nice spot to sit and have a drink. There is even a playground just below the hall where the kids can blow off some steam (my son loved it)! I'm so jealous I wish I was going. It's one of our favorite things to do.

Hi all,
We've never been to Hoop Dee Doo and just booked a last minute trip that has us arriving Feb. 1st. I also called on a whim to see if we could get Hoop Dee Doo tickets for a 5:00 show and they had them for Feb 2nd!!! Perfect b/c we have a 2yo. However I am wondering how far back we will be seated? I'm reading here that you have seat assignments based on when you reserved so I guess our family of three will be in the waaaay back. Will our 2yo be able to see?

Thanks for any help! Thanks to the op for asking about HDDR.

Hi MinnieGi
Most likely your party of 3 will be seated in the balcony. But that's not so bad. Some of the entertainers will come up there during the show and make you feel included. I don't know it for a fact but my theory is that small parties are much more apt to be seated in the balcony.

Hopefully since you booked the early show, you might get a decent table.
I just threw together a spur-of-the moment trip with my sister for Feb. 1-6 and reserved the 7:15 show on Feb. 4th - I hope we don't end up in the rafters!

Our first trip we booked 3 weeks in advance and had great seats downstairs right in the middle. So don't worry

Thanks! Thanks! Thanks!

This is very helpful information. I have booked it for our June trip.

Called CM today and they said we could pick up our tickets at Beach Club since Swan could not do that for us. Does this sound right??

Also asked CM about seating and she said that all parties of 3 sit upstairs and since we were a party of 4 that we would be down stairs. Sounds good to me.

Thanks everyone for the info! I love these boards - I didn't even know there was a balcony! (he,he)

Looking forward to our first time at Hoop Dee Doo!

I don't want to sit upstairs!!!!
If I have to sit upstairs, I will demand cheap seat PRICING.

I would cheerfully sit upstairs for upper grandstand seats....

My husband and I are going in June and I made my ressies for the show last July. We are going to be eating at the later show, will that eliminate us from MK fireworks? I, too would prefer to not be in the balcony, but have heard that no matter where you are seated, it is a fun show. I am anxious to see if this is the case.

DH went to HDD on our honeymoon in 1999. Can't remember when I made the reservations, but we were downstairs to the right of the stage. Would have like to have been more centered, but we were toward the front. Could not believe how much DH ate - 5 pieces of chicken, a bunch of ribs, etc.

I just made reservations for December 2003 for a party of 8. Since I booked 11 months in advance, I'm hoping to get pretty good seats. Taking the inlaws (mother, father, sister, brother) and a nephew. DS (2 1/2) will also accompany us. Although it is pricey, I know we will have a great time.

We're staying at VWL and never thought about taking the boat. That might be the way to go if it isn't too difficult getting a return launch.

The balcony's fine - there's only one row, so you're right on the rail and the view is great.

We've had tables up and down, but my least favorite was the one right up against the stage - we got pulled into the show a little out of my comfort level!:o

There really isnt a bad seat in the place. We had great seats last time but the service was so bad it ruined the night for us. We have been seated in several different areas and had a wonderful time.

We were in the balcony this past December for our daughter's 13th birthday. We loved it! The view was wonderful, and the entertainers came upstairs twice and included our daughter. The place is small enough that there really are no bad seats. I was also seated up front and to the right of the stage years ago, and the balcony beat that hands down.

You will have a great time wherever you are seated. :p
