Hi,

Im getting married at Disney in December, Ive already booked the GF for our anniversary trip next Dec.

I made the reservation about 3 weeks ago but thought today that it might be nice to stay in aa honeymoon room rather than the concierge room (main bld) that ive booked.

However when i called reservations today I was really dissapointed to find that the honeymoon rooms are fully booked!!! A full 14months in advance.

The CM did say that i could try calling back to check if there had been any cancellations, Do you think this would be likely? Do you think I should call every day to check??

Im kinda new to all of this so any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

I don't have an answer to your question but wanted to say Congratulations!

I wouldn't get your hopes up on a honeymoon room though...but it doesn't hurt to call.

first off - congratulations!

Secondly, there are only five or six honeymoon rooms - two in the turrets in the main building and three or four (can't remember) in standard sized rooms in the main building. They might be just on a hold and not booked; either way they would not appear in inventory if this was the case. I would most definitely keep calling to check for openings.

I'd LOVE to see photos of those... we did our honeymoon at GF in '94, we were just happy with a regular ol room there (even with 2 double beds...what were they thinking, DH is 6'4"/250.) An anniversary trip to GF sounds very cool someday...

That is impossible. I just booked my trip last week for this december and we are staying in a Honeymon Dlx in the main bldg....no problem booking.

FYI There are 6 Turret rooms in the main building. 3 facing the Monorail and 3 facing the lagoon and the waterfall pool. they are beautiful rooms but do not have a balcony.

The other "honeymoon" dlx rooms in the main building are in a different wing. They have balconiy and also jacuzzi jetted bath tubs. Thye are in a quiet part of the hotel..still the main building.

By my count, there are 9 or 10 honeymoon suites on the 2nd floor of the main building and 6 honeymoon turret suites. I too find it odd that these 15 or 16 rooms would already be completely booked more than a year in advance. Sometimes the inventory listings just don't make any sense, so you might want to call back and talk to someone else. As Goofie4goofy mentioned though, the honeymoon suite is still considered a concierge room and it's in the main building. Perhaps you'd just like to go with a standard room and request a king sized bed?

Renovations maybe? It might be interesting to check more generally for main building rooms during the same dates and see if they are available. If not this far in advance, something is going on. Otherwise, maybe it's a wedding that's taking up all the rooms. If they are booked, I think the chance of cancelation is iffy -- deposits for those rooms are pretty hefty given the nightly rate, and dates for weddings tend to be pretty locked in.

I think the turret rooms on the lagoon side are the nicest. The top one, and probably the one under, has a direct view of the MK and the castle from the bed. I've not been in the other turret, but from orientation, I don't think it would be as good.

I thought I heard that there are really (or were) only 5 turret rooms, even though it looks like there are 6. One of the bottom floor (second floor) ones maybe at one point wasn't actually a room, or something. This info goes back a long time ago, though -- I'm sure at $600 a night or whatever, it makes sense to have it be a room.

First of-CONGRATS!

Second, if you really really want a Honeymoon room, then I wouldn't give up, I would call regularly to see if anyone has cancelled or if maybe someone made a mistake.

Don't give up!

Thank you for all ur help folks.

I tried calling again yesterday, spoke to a different reservationist but again same thing, no honeymoon rooms available!!!

Guess i will have to just keep trying or take your advice Tammi and request a normal room with king bed,

Thank you all

Having stayed in a honeymoon room I can tell you they really aren't that different than the other rooms in the main building. We did have a special key to get to the second floor, but I think anything in the main building is really special and romantic. :) Congratulations!!! :goodvibes

I have stayed in all types of the Honeymoon rooms...the one thing I miss about the turret rooms is NO balcony. There's nothing like having that outdoor space and hearing all the WDW noises.

Another category that may interest you is a concierge deluxe room main building...these rooms are a bit bigger and have a wet bars and balconies...

thanks for the tip goofie4goofy, i will try calling tommorrow to change our ressie to a deluxe room.

would def love to have a balcony, even if it is decemeber and even if it is cold!!

do you know if any of these rooms have a view of the castle?? and do you know if all concierge rooms have a wet bar??

thanks so much

ann marie

The turret honeymoon rooms do have a wet bar, but no balcony. To be honest, the wet bar looks nice but is pretty useless...I really see no need for it, I have yet to use it. They also have large oval soaking bathtubs (no jets)

The honeymoon deluxe rooms (or the ones I have been in) do not have a wet bar, but they do have balconies.

The concierge Delx rooms have wet bars and balconies and regular bathtubs.

I have been in almost every kind of room in the main building. Our last visit last month we were in the Victorian suite. - which had 4 balconies we had a partial castle view..and I have yet to see a good castle view from the main building. The other GF buildings block the view. So if a castle view is important to you you need to go to another building.

I do    staying in the main building. I would never stay anywhere else in the GF. I know the SL is lovely, but being in the main building is just great.

So with that said, there is some give and take to staying in the main building RPC. Maybe the Roy Disney suite has it all but for that kind of money it should - LOL.

I honestly did not see much of a diffference in the honeymoon deluxe rooms and regular rooms in the main building. The honeymoon dlx (not turret) are in a quieter wing of the main building and some have jetted bath tubs..which is nice too.

Hope you are not too confused.

If view is really important to you I would recommend checking out Conch Key. We had a fantastic view there, just a regular lagoon view room, and I believe there are at least two suites in that building as well if you want something a little more special. :) That was definitely the best view we ever had at WDW. The castle, monorail, fireworks, EWP, we could hear the train whistle, the haunted mansion howl, very cool. :)

Rooms 4301-4309 and 4401-4409 in the main building all have beautiful castle views, but they are not deluxes. We had 4404 once and could watch the castle change colors from bed. Absolutely no obstructions. They are right above the honeymoon suite rooms.

I'm typically a balcony person, but I honestly didn't miss it much when we stayed in the turret honeymoon suite. It was early January and really too cold to spend much time out there anyway. I acutally pulled up one of the chairs to the bank of windows that overlooked the castle and had a lovely view from the room. The windows all opened too.

If you are looking into the deluxes, have them double check the bedding for you. I think they are configured with 2 queen beds. Not sure how important the king bed is to you.

The top floor in the turret closest to the lagoon not only has an unobstructed castle view from the window, it actually has an unobstructed, perfectly centered castle view from the bed. Although I haven't stayed in all of them, I would take this room again -- notwithstanding the lack of a balcony -- probably over just about any other concievable room in WDW.

Oh yes I know that room well...that is the room we always get when staying at the GF for the past few years. It is rare however and you cannot build up anyone's hopes of a view from one particular room.
Not only can you see the castle from the bed, but you can also see EPCOT and illuminations as well from there. It is the best view of just about any room on WDW property...unfortunately it is one of a kind.

I just looked up my room bill and 4021 is the 5th floor turret honeymoon suite. I expect that the 4th floor (4421) would have the same view. The 3rd floor (4321) might have you looking a bit more at the buildings though. If you decide to go with a deluxe in the main building, you can always request one of these room numbers with your pre-planner. Nothing is guaranteed, but it doesn't hurt to ask. I think all 3 styles of rooms, honeymoon, turret and deluxe are in the same pricing category, so it might just be a matter of what you request and what they have available.

Ann Marie, as you'll be there anyway in just a few weeks (congratulations on your wedding), perhaps you'll have some time for a staff member to give you a tour of the different rooms. On a side note, I think your wedding is the same weekend as when they film the Christmas parade. If you're looking for the same dates for your anniversary, that may be why the inventory is not showing availability. The GF seems to be a very popular place that particular weekend and they may just be blocking rooms for next year. I don't know how many celebrities and/or VIP's stay there during the filming. You may have better luck talking to someone while you're at the resort and book on site. Perhaps your wedding coordinator can assist you with that?

Good luck with everything.

Yup -- 4021. And gofie4goofy is right -- you could very easily end up requesting this room and paying $600 to $900 a night for one of the monorail side turrets.

I'm actually not so sure whether the 4th floor in this turret would have the same view. Probably, but I could see where it might start to get obstructed -- plus, the windows aren't as tall. As for this room on the 3d floor, I'm still really curious whether there actually is such a room. I don't think there was in the late 90s. I think it was storage or househeeking then. Has anyone ever stayed in that room, seen the entrance from the hall, or seen the lights on in there?
