Help with holding points

Have 3 reservations at boardwalk villas(2studios and a 1bedroom) for thanksgiving and need to use holding points by jan 31.I have 160 holding points that have to be used by jan31 but I am already taking my family to boardwalk for thanksgiving. Wish I could swap out the points I used for the holding points. I know this isn't possible. I would love to upgrade everybody's room t of course that weekend is IMpOSSiBLe!! Any suggestions? Anyone out there have say a 2 bedroom and a one bedroom and would prefer 2 studios and a 1 bedroom at boardwalk? Or a grand villa? What are my chances with a waitlist. What rooms are more likely to come thru? What's the best way to approach a waitlist for it to come thru? For example I know standard view has few rooms where pool view has more. Help!!

Pool/garden view is the largest category at BWV and within that I'd guess that 1BR's would be the best option for a waitlist. The difficulty with waitlisting for a 2BR at BWV is that they are all lock-offs so both a studio and a 1BR have to be open at the same time to get that. Also you can just keep checking online and perhaps can pick up a few days on or cobble together a new 1BR or studio reservation that will use some of the holding points.

Have you looked at availability at other resorts? If you expand your options you'll also have a better chance of using the holding points.

Yes I am open to bigger accommodations at any resort. Even Saratoga is booked for that weekend. I'm guessing it's going to be mobbed. Wish I cud just switch even one studio to a one bedroom. Wonder what my chances are for a grand villa at this point anywhere. Guess I'll try piecing something too when the 60 days opens up.

I have 41 holding points that need to be used by Aug 1. I am glad it's not a lot and I have plenty of time but I am wondering if it will be possible. Of course the next few months are the busiest DVC time and we are flying to WDW for F&W so we can't really do another WDW trip. The points were HHI points to begin with, so I am hoping to do 3 nights (studio) at HHI...watching Thanksgiving week but would love Easter week (just not sure if there will be any availability at 2 months out)...might have to do super off-season like Jan or Feb. OP, are you close enough to VB or HHI where you could do an off-season trip there?

We were thinking of vero in January but the weather is iffy. Plus we went to Disney in April, August and are booked for thanksgiving. I can't justify another trip. Lol you are good because you have some time to use your holding points. Hilton head in the spring and umber is great

See if you can get any of the days that match what you have already then move it into your current reservation. That should free up some points and if you can do so before your banking window ends, you should be able to bank those points as well.
