I am looking into a Hawaiian exchange and there are a lot more resorts than the last time I looked(I think, maybe I just don't remember). I know there are a lot of posts on this subject, but search doesn't work(hint, hint webmasters), and it takes forever to find. So, anyone know anything about the World Passport resorts on the islands. Any feedback of Kuaui v. Maui. I know the basics about the islands, but do any of the resorts stand out among the others. I am also looking at Fiji and possibly Scotland. Any feedback would be great.

Thanks

Same choices as the last couple of years and overall less than a few years ago. I'd say only the Marriott's, KCR and possibly Hanalei Bay are in the class of DVC. Maui has more going on and Kauai is more laid back. Expect the 2 new Marriott's (Kauai and Oahu) and the Westin (Maui) to be added to the list.

Is Papakea Resort on the list for maui?

We stayed there (way before we ever heard of DVC) in August of 1997. It was a beautiful resort. The grounds were meticulously cared for and we had a beautiful view from our 1 bedroom. I don't know its status now--5 years later--but if it hasn't changed, I would go back in an instant. Only I would check cash prices first (I think we rented through an agency in California) as we got a price you wouldn't believe (I still can't).

In fact, for as "expensive" as I always heard Maui was...the only thing that fit that description was the airfare to and from. Once on the island we were pleasantly surprised. And if you end up going--plan one casual dinner at "cheeseburger in paradise"...right on the water, open air, and great local musicians.

hope this helps!

Kaanapali Keys at Papakea is on it. Papakea actually has about 3 different timeshare in the resort itself. The quality of the units, maint and the like vary from one to another from what I've been told. Is Papakea the one right next door to the Embassy with another resort in between them? Does it have a large series of Koi streams? If so I walked it when I was there and the grounds are pretty. I think it has indivdual AC wall units but at least it has AC, unlike SOK. What I saw and the reviews on TUG would confirm my previous posts on severa resorts, that they are worth considering but a down trade from a DVC resort.
