As an annual Christmas-week traveler, I try and provide as much info as possible. I promise—there's more to come! In the meantime, I've been bogged down with work, class, and putting together the finishing touches on our Halloween trip.

- It's our first Halloween trip
- It's my parent's first time going for F&W
- It's the first time for Mickey's Not So Scary
- It's the first time going as a big family (10 of us!)
- It's the first time traveling and planning for little ones (two girls 2, 4)

We'll be there from 10/27-11/1.

Initially, we kind of built our trip around the little ones. We have FP+'s for things we wouldn't normally reserve, like the Talking Mickey on Main Street, Peter Pan (usually we go on late at night during EMH), etc.

I put together our initial itinerary as follows:

10/27: My family arrives late, 10/27, to the Polynesian. We crash and wake up early.
10/28: Wake up early, breakfast at Capt. Cook's, I'll get some content for my blog/vlog, etc. The rest of the family will arrive by 11am-12pm. I asked and my cousin thinks the kids will be ready to go, so we're heading to MK for talking Mickey FP+, the parade, Buzz Lightyear FP+, 7DMT FP+ and whatever else we can fit in. We then have dinner at 'Ohana. After, we'll relax/digest a bit, then head back to MK, which is open until 12am for some more rides and Happily Ever After.
10/29: We originally booked MK for this day. Breakfast at BOG, my little cousin will go to BBB, then we have FP+ in the afternoon. We then head to EPCOT for Teppan Edo—I think the kids will love this place!

10/30: We have breakfast at Cape May, then we're going to DHS for the Frozen show, Tower of Terror, and TSMM FP+. We have dinner that night at Homecomin'
10/31: Breakfast at Chef Mickey's, then EPCOT for the day. We have FP+ and figured we'd squeeze in Food & Wine, before heading to MK for Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party
11/1: We are going to Animal Kingdom for the day.

Here's the problem - I walked my sister through the suggested itinerary and she brought up a good point - it's all good and fair to make it about the kids and showing our family (it's their first time) a good time, but we really had our heart set on F&W. Of course we don't wanna miss the fun FP+ like 7DMT, etc. but we also wanna do stuff unique to the time we're going. After all, we will be back for Christmas.

So a few questions:
1) How packed is it during Halloween/Halloween weekend? We usually go for Christmas. How is it compared to Xmas? Can we pull off getting in a bunch of rides early Sunday then heading over to EPCOT for F&W rather than waiting until the late afternoon for our FP+?
2) Maybe we can bang out MK that Saturday and just do MK in the morning 10/29? Again, it'll depend on the crowds.
3) Any tips to re-jig the current itinerary? Maybe cancel a dinner? Move a dinner? It's tough with 10 people, though. I can't touch the FP+ without losing them and it was hard enough finding dining reservations for 10.

I appreciate any and all feedback!

Halloween will not be anywhere as crowded as Christmas. No, it won't be empty, but it wasn't bad at all last year.

You'll make a lot more progress around F&W if you can get there on weekday. It will be much less crowded.

We have been at Halloween and Christmas. Here's our experience:
1. Halloween time frame was busy, but not as busy as Christmas. If you are at rope drop, you should be able to knock off a few rides.
2. Saturday is going to be your busiest day at EP and MK. I would keep your plan to not do EP on Saturday, and use Saturday's late MK hours. If you are at rope drop at MK for Sunday, you should be able to do just MK in the morning and then head to EP for the rest of the day.
3. I suggest you cancel your dinner on 10/30 at Homecomin'. Spend the morning at DHS, take a break in the afternoon, and then return to DHS for the Star Wars fireworks and anything you want to do or re-do...or do your morning in DHS, take break, and then spend the remainder of the day in EP.

I know how tough it is with 10 people of all ages. I was the planner a few years ago for a family trip of 9 with ages from 1 year old to 70 years old. It was a great trip...once in a lifetime experiences especially since my parents are gone now. Good luck! Whatever you do, it will be the great memories that last. If you haven't signed up for PhotoPass, I suggest you do so.

Yeah, as I'm planning all this out, I started thinking "I know Halloween is awesome at Disney and the parks will probably see an uptick on Saturday, but I can't see it being crowded on the weekdays." Some schools will have All Saints Day (I believe? I went to Catholic elementary school then changed to public).

Great tips! I kinda pushed for Homecomin' over 50's Prime Time, seeing as we've never been. We managed to secure a reservation for both. Maybe I push for 50's instead and do what you suggested? They won't be big on Star Wars, even though the fireworks are pretty awe-inspiring. Maybe they'd be better off at Fantasmic, although I feel like that could be scary for kids.

We are AP holders so we have the PhotoPass. We're traveling with my cousin, her husband and their two little ones, then my cousin (her sister) and my aunt (her mom). I recommended just my cousin with the kids buy the PhotoPass and split it with my aunt and cousin. Once you download, you can buy as many prints as possible.

Are you leaving on the 1st? If not, you could pop over to F&W that evening if there are a few last booths you want to try (depending on how much you want to do at Animal Kingdom.)

10 people is a challenge in and of itself. I say leave yourself some wiggle room and leave unscheduled time. Stuff is going to happen. Guaranteed.
Downtown Disney is a nice option to get out of the parks and still feel the magic.

Halloween isn't nearly as crowded as Christmas.

We went during Halloween week a few years ago, and I kept thinking.....I know this is a school week, so why are there SO MANY school-aged kids here? It was a lot more crowded week than I'd been expecting. Also, I had remembered reading that F&W at Epcot was only busy on the weekends. Ha! That whole area was crowded all day, every day.

If their accounts are linked to yours, their pictures will show up on your PhotoPass, so they can get the pictures from you, too.

Luckily my cousin has been pretty cool. I texted her about 50's instead of Homecomin and she said "I trust you—as long as it's good for the kids then do it."

I mean... there's still a lot of pressure to put together the perfect trip. I take a lot of pride in building an efficient trip... but she and the family we're traveling with for Christmas (that'll make 8 total) have been pretty cool with handing over the reigns.
