As an annual Christmas-week traveler, I try and provide as much info as possible. I promise—there's more to come! In the meantime, I've been bogged down with work, class, and putting together the finishing touches on our Halloween trip.
- It's our first Halloween trip
- It's my parent's first time going for F&W
- It's the first time for Mickey's Not So Scary
- It's the first time going as a big family (10 of us!)
- It's the first time traveling and planning for little ones (two girls 2, 4)
We'll be there from 10/27-11/1.
Initially, we kind of built our trip around the little ones. We have FP+'s for things we wouldn't normally reserve, like the Talking Mickey on Main Street, Peter Pan (usually we go on late at night during EMH), etc.
I put together our initial itinerary as follows:
10/27: My family arrives late, 10/27, to the Polynesian. We crash and wake up early.
10/28: Wake up early, breakfast at Capt. Cook's, I'll get some content for my blog/vlog, etc. The rest of the family will arrive by 11am-12pm. I asked and my cousin thinks the kids will be ready to go, so we're heading to MK for talking Mickey FP+, the parade, Buzz Lightyear FP+, 7DMT FP+ and whatever else we can fit in. We then have dinner at 'Ohana. After, we'll relax/digest a bit, then head back to MK, which is open until 12am for some more rides and Happily Ever After.
10/29: We originally booked MK for this day. Breakfast at BOG, my little cousin will go to BBB, then we have FP+ in the afternoon. We then head to EPCOT for Teppan Edo—I think the kids will love this place!
10/30: We have breakfast at Cape May, then we're going to DHS for the Frozen show, Tower of Terror, and TSMM FP+. We have dinner that night at Homecomin'
10/31: Breakfast at Chef Mickey's, then EPCOT for the day. We have FP+ and figured we'd squeeze in Food & Wine, before heading to MK for Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party
11/1: We are going to Animal Kingdom for the day.
Here's the problem - I walked my sister through the suggested itinerary and she brought up a good point - it's all good and fair to make it about the kids and showing our family (it's their first time) a good time, but we really had our heart set on F&W. Of course we don't wanna miss the fun FP+ like 7DMT, etc. but we also wanna do stuff unique to the time we're going. After all, we will be back for Christmas.
So a few questions:
1) How packed is it during Halloween/Halloween weekend? We usually go for Christmas. How is it compared to Xmas? Can we pull off getting in a bunch of rides early Sunday then heading over to EPCOT for F&W rather than waiting until the late afternoon for our FP+?
2) Maybe we can bang out MK that Saturday and just do MK in the morning 10/29? Again, it'll depend on the crowds.
3) Any tips to re-jig the current itinerary? Maybe cancel a dinner? Move a dinner? It's tough with 10 people, though. I can't touch the FP+ without losing them and it was hard enough finding dining reservations for 10.
I appreciate any and all feedback!
