HI!
I'm so excited to take my family to DL for the 1st time. :cool1:I went last year and stayed at the DLH for work. We are going to stay at the GCH Woodsview in August. Since I really don't know this hotel :confused3I was wondering if anyone was able to help me out about where I should make a request for the room assignment and what if anything we should avoid.
Thank you so much I appreciate any input. ::yes:::disrocks:

last summer we had a woods view room which was right next to the monorail track/tunnel so it would whoosh by every 5 min or so. Not too loud and very cool to see. We loved sitting out on the balcony watching it go by. I looked at a map and it looks like it was in the range of x114-x120 (where x is the floor number - we were on the 2nd or 3rd floor). That whole section facing into that same courtyard is very nice.

The only other time we stayed at GCH we requested a woods view room and were told at check in we were upgraded to a DTD view room - I said that was OK as long as it was quiet as DD was still napping and went to bed early (she was 3 at the time) and the CM at check in lied and told me it was quiet- it wasn't (booming music from early evening to midnight) and was one of many reasons why we were invited back for free a few months later and were given the woods view room next to the monorail tracks. If we ever stay there again we will definitely request woods view again.

To see a map of the rooms, see post #450 of this thread http://www.disboards.com/threads/grand-californian-super-thread-updated-11-7-13.2396588/page-23
Most folks like the rooms up the elevator from Napa Rose but I think they are all premium view, not Woods.

So much to consider here - you should search for the GCH superthread on this board. There are pages and pages of advice there. I will give you my $.02, however. When we stayed there last we also had a woods view room. I requested the 300 wing for our room. That is the wing with the entrance to DCA in it and some of the rooms overlook the park, others the pool, I think. Idk for sure. I asked for second floor rooms (near 2351) and got them. Great view of Grizzly River Run but through the trees, which is why I think it is still considered a woodsview. I think if we were up higher we would see more of the park, less trees and it would be a more expensive room class. We like that wing because it could not be closer to the park entrance. Also you can hear the nice ambient music from the park with your balcony window open.

We loved our DTD/MK view. Watching the MK fireworks from our room was truly magical. We enjoyed peaking down on everyone in DTD. Some are concerned about the noise, but nothing crazy. We liked the sounds from below.
