Help with Fort Myers Beach Restaurants

I thought of another restaurant. It's on Fort Myers Beach - however, much farther down the beach from Fort Myers. Avoid the Junkanoo. We called it the Junk a NO!

Another hint - save your shopping for Sanibel. Much better than Fort Myers. Tho. DS enjoyed the pirate shop near Fort Myers Beach.

Out of curiosity, what shopping is better in Sanibel? I'll disagree on that one!

I agree Junkanoo is terrible!

I think Diamond Head is a great place for a family to stay. It has a great pool, nice beach location, good restaurant Chloes, great tiki bar that also serves lunch. It's not too far from the Beach theatre which serves food.
The Pink Shell is also a great place for families to stay

The Beach Pierside Grill is a great place to eat and watch the sunset on Fort Myers Beach.

If you like Greek, Plakka is at Times Square and it has really good Greek food.
It's pretty just to walk around Times Square at night. They have street performers and it's all lit up.

The pirate shop is after you go over the bridge, it will be kind of staring you in the face before you make any turns to the beach.
I know there are more places, I'm just blanking out right now.

That sounds great Cheryl, its always nice to hear a good review of a hotel and resort you have booked. We will probably be out and about a lot anyway so as long as the beach is nice for a day or two and we can find some nice restaurants for the evening we will be happy. Just another question does anybody know how long it takes to get down to the everglades (is it doable in a day !??)

I haven't done it in a long time, but it's about an hour and a half.
I can do that in a day.

If you venture out to Fort Myers, you may want to take a stroll through the Bell Tower Shops. They aren't far from FMB. It's an outdoor mall with upscale shops and plenty of restaurants ranging from upscale to Fridays and Johnny Rockets, my favorite is Bistro 41. There is also a large movie theatre. Simple to get there from Diamond Head.
There is also a huge, and I mean huge new mall area, you should see it when you leave the airport. It's Gulf Coast Center. It has every store and restaurant I can think of there.
Hopefully you will have nice weather and never leave the beach!!

I haven't posted since I started this thread, but I have been reading. I'd like to thank everyone for their thoughts. Keep them coming. We will arrive in 3 1/2 weeks. Can't wait.

We have returned from Fort Myers and here is a list of restaurants that we would recommend:
The Bridge- good early bird menu until 6pm and $2 happy hour until 7pm
Fish Monger- very good food
Channel Mark/ Tim's Place- great outside dinning on dock (crab cake sandwich) at Tim's place or very nice more formal dining inside at Channel Mark
Flippers- Lover's Key Condo- good food with million doller view, outside dining,
Lover's Key State Park
Parrot Key - dockside dining Jimmy Buffett style

Breakfast - good and reasonable:
Split Rail Restaurant and Pancake House

Thanks for everybody's help, we had a great trip. Since this was off-season, there were many coupons and specials in the weekly and daily papers. We would suggest visiting the Fort Myers Beach welcome center on San Carlos Blvd. There is much good info available here including menus with prices etc.
