Help with FoP please

Hi all - I screwed up my FPs when our 60 day window opened and booked Navi instead of FoP. My own fault totally but of course when I went back to change it all the FoPs were gone. So we have 2 choices now - we are doing Thursday night for Savor the Savanah, Navi, RoL, and Expedition. We planned on going back to AK Friday morning anyway to for Dinosaur and the other rides. My question: Should we do rope drop and get right on FoP or should I keep looking for FP+ for FoP? I would have to give up one of my FPs to change right? I need a bit of explanation on how to do that from those who have? Thanks so much!

You're going to find it very, very difficult to get a FP+ for FOP. It can be done, I did it...got a FP+ for it just 24 hours in advance, but it took stalker level persistence on MDE. The "safe" bet would be to do a very early rope drop (which we refuse to do).

Yes, to change one of your FP+, you'd need to give up another (swap). AK is now tiered with their FP+. If I recall, only the two Pandora rides are Tier 1, though there may be another, I forget. To try to do it, pick the FP+ you're willing to give up/trade and hit "modify". See what is available. You may need to keep refreshing over and over and over and over, and you may still not get FOP. But don't worry, you won't lose your existing FP+ unless you actually select a replacement and "confirm" it at the bottom of the screen.

You can keep looking for FP+ but don't count on it. If you don't mind getting up a little early and being there about an hour early for rope drop on Friday morning you can ride both Pandora rides with minimal waits.

RD works one hour before gets you to experience the queue which is awesome.

Sorry to add onto your original post but I wondered whether they were offering rider switch tickets for fop? We have FP+ booked for the adults but my kids are too little to ride.... I'm sure they are but I thought I would ask.
Also are the tickets good until the end of the given month like on other attractions? Just in case ds doesn't want to wait we are back at ak the following day to take in the night atmosphere!!

Yes, RD. Get to the park 45-60 minutes early. We did it twice in June and it worked beautifully. By the time we got off the ride, the line was crazy.

They let us in AK about 30 mins before opening and we were held at Pandora til 7:40 (8 am openings in June). So go early, it's definitely doable!

Absolutely do FoP at rope drop. You don't want to miss it if you can't get a FP for it.

Last Friday we arrived at AK (9:00 opening) parking at 8:20, rode the tram, went through bag check and tickets and walked right into the park. We walked to Pandora and got in the growing mob. At about 8:40 they opened the bridge and the mob split for the two rides, stay right for FoP. They snaked us around and back but it was clear what to do and the CM had it well organized. We were off the ride by 9:20. One note, we did not go through the whole queue that time, completely missed the lab etc.

Thanks all! Rope drop it is. I will check MDE but I'm not one for stalking the app. We will get the early bus to AK and be ready for RD. Thanks for the staying right tip! I'm actually looking forward to seeing everything.

RD works one hour before gets you to experience the queue which is awesome.

Current rope drop procedure (at least for the past week and a half) means you will miss the queue. They are starting rope droppers through the normal standby queue, but then once inside the first cave they are being routed through a cutoff into the FP+ line. So you miss 95% of the standby queue.
