Help with flying Jetblue...

So as everyone has found out Southwest's prices are way up there where I'm thinking of changing over to JetBlue and driving a few hrs to another airport to use them, and so I have a few questions if someone can help me out:

I did read on their web site some info but wanted to double check to make sure I have it correct so here it goes: Does JetBlue charge the $100 fee only for cancellations? If the price on your flight goes down do you let you change and get a credit and if so do they charge you a $100 fee for each change? Also do they charge you the $100 for everyone in your party or just 1 charge for the whole party on the same comfirmation?

I think I read somewhere here you can choose your seats on line when you book your flight, is this correct? Do they charge you? Can you see if there is a group of seats together/available before you pay for your flight or do you not see the seating chart until after you pay?

If we change to jetblue for this trip it will be the first time I have flown a different airline in about 5 years and I am lost so thanks for the help..

Change fees of $100 are applicable for all user changes including rebooks due to prices going down. They are waived for schedule changes and weather disruptions. You may have to ask for them to be waived as sometimes the phone agents play dumb on the fee being waived.

Seats can be booked at time of purchase except if you use their business or vacations websites in which case you can't change them yourself until airport check-in. Extra legroom seats can be booked when choosing seats for an extra fee ranging from $10 to $50 depending on flight distance.

You get one bag for free on JB and need to pay for the second.

Have flown JetBlue several times, I'll help where I can. You can see and choose your seats before you pay for no fee. There are several seats that are deemed "better" if you choose those, it does add $$ to your ticket. These seats are clearly marked. Although I have never benefited by a price drop, I believe it is a straight credit...I am sure someone can confirm that. When booking JetBlue start with one passenger and check prices. I have been successful in saving money by booking one person at a time. There were four of us on our last trip, I saved over $300 by booking one passenger first, then the other 3.

There is a $100 per person fee if you change your flight or cancel completely. You can get reductions in fare prices as credits to your "TrueBlue" Account. You need to set one up. It is their traveler rewards program. These credits are good for up to one (1) year and you can book a new flight with them out longer than 1 year, but you have to have made the booking within that one year (I hope that makes sense).

No, you are not charged to select your seat assignments. You can see the entire plane ahead of time and see which seats are taken and which are not and you can place each person in each seat. There are some "More Legroom" seats that have an additional cost. I love these seats, but each person is different and JB's seats have more legroom to begin with than regular airlines. You also are not charged for your first bag. They do charge for overweight or more than 1 bag.

JB also has the televisions in the seat in front of you and XM radio as well. You can pay for movies if you like. Bring your own iPod style head phones (or similar - just needs to be able to fit in the jack) so you can begin watching as soon as you board (and they turn them on). If you wait until you board to buy headphones you have to wait until you are in the air. We love JB.

You need headphones with a 3.5MM jack.

So I can get a refund of a credit if the pricing on my original flight goes down and not be charged a fee but if I need to change days or flights then there is a fee unless JetBlue changes my flight around on me, did I get that right?

That's correct. I bought my tickeet for $94 each 2 weeks ago (6 passengers). Last week the rate dropped to $59 each. I got on the phone and called. The agent check my flights and agreed and put $210 credit into my account. There is no fee for this process. However, you must be watching to see the change as they will not tell you about it, or do it automatically. However, if you cancel your flight or change to a different day, then you have to pay the fee.

I'm guessing by some of these responses, some folks are unaware of this process. BTW -- I love Jetblue. Having that TV for the grandkids of all ages, is great. Plus unlimited snacks and beverages is nice too. Having assigned seating is wonderful!

Not necessarily a refund, but a credit toward a future flight. It won't go back to your credit card.
