So I am Type 2 Diabetic and will be flying for the first time since diagnosis. In reading around the web and TSA I'm confused about one thing that I'm hoping someone can clear up. All my meds are in a prescription bottle or box with the prescription label on the front that obviously matches my name.

What is confusing is this statement I am finding over and over
"Be prepared with a prescription from your doctor for every diabetes supply you may be carrying. Again, make sure that the prescription name matches the one on your ticket."

Does that statement mean I am fine with what I have or do I need my doctor to give me a written prescription for every item.
Thanks for the help!! I appreciate it.

You should be fine. TSA has never batted an eye at my husband's diabetic supplies and other meds.

Enjoy your vacation!

yes you will be fine if the bottle has your name on it then you will be fine ( I have gone with RX with no name on them and was fine) if it makes you fell better you can ask your dr to write you a note saying what you are on and any medical things you have like your meter but I think this would be over kill.

have a great trip and remember to test more often

My husband and i both travel with our diabetic medications. We put them in a small lunchbag so they can open it if they need. I trll the security " these are my diabetic supplies". They were fine with that. I did not need a doctor's note or any proof that it is medically necessary. Now with my other medications such as my pain medications, I do have them in the original pill bottle which has my name, doctor's name, what the medication is, how often it is taken. I have had no problems at all with any diabetic medicines and I have never had a doctor's note I have even taken my lancets, insulin syringes, glucometer, and everything else I need in case I had to blood stick and never had problems!

When I was on dialysis I took 4 liters of dialytic fluid as well as my medications and syringes through without any problems. I'm sure you will be fine.
