I did a search and didn't find anything so please help me if I missed a thread on what people had to say about Flicka.

I want to take my 7 year old DD - she is very sensitive, cries easily at injustice and animal cruelty - would she be okay in a movie theater watching this movie or should we wait for video?

The reason I am really questioning it is because of a review like this:
Anyway, then there's a mountain lion and rifles and pneumonia and a lot of other things guaranteed to bring horse-loving little girls to tears. What fun.
After that, you can go home.

Can anyone who has seen the movie help me

Has it been released yet? I hadn't noticed it at the theaters yet.

You have my sympathy. I was (am) the same way. I love murder mysteries but don't take me anywhere that the dog might get shot or the horse whipped! ;) I think my DD and her BF are going to see this, but I usually skip most animal movies. I know it's a movie, and it's ridiculous, but some of us can't help ourselves.

My DDs 5 and 7 really want to see this. I'm anxious to hear some reviews.

I have a horse crazy 9 year old and she went last night with her aunt. She loved it.

SPOILER....

A mountain lion does attack the horse. There are visible scratch marks and blood. The dad comes along and helps the horse. She said there is really nothing else that was too bad. She said nothing even remotely made her want to cry but she is a kid that understands stuff in movies is pretend and the horse is fine.

It has a happy ending with the girl and horse together so no Old Yeller ending. ;)

I saw Flicka yesterday and yes, it may upset her a little bit but everything comes out good in the end. I took my 6 year old daughter and we both shed a couple tears but if you know it's coming maybe you can kind of prepare your little one for it to happen. ( speaking of the above poster's spoiler).

It was a wonderful movie and the addition of Tim made it just that much better for me. Enjoy!!!!!

My 17 year old daughter and I both cried when we saw it tonight. It was more about the relationship between the father and daughter than the horse though. I could see parts of it being sort of intense for a sensitive little girl.

DH took DD's 14 and 11 today. What a wonderful movie! We all loved it. I wouldn't have any problem taking a 7 year old. There were about 3 bad words (as*, hel*, and dam*). The bloody damage done by the mountain lion was visible for literally 1/2 a second (during lightening).

There were some tense moments and sad moments, but it really was great.

I took two of my nephews, 8 and 6, to see it yesterday and they both enjoyed it. If your DD is sensitive, then she might cry. Sad scenes in the movie, and the horse does get hurt, talk about putting down animals and such. It was a really good movie, and the ending was good. Just a few scenes that may upset your DD though. But it all turns out well.
