Help with figuring out a split stay...

I am needing some help with my trip.


Original plan:
Take an early morning flight (somewhere between 6-8AM) out of Boston on Saturday, September 15 and stay at the Art of Animation Resort, Little Mermaid Wing (Opening Day!!!)
On days like this, we usually travel to Boston the night before the flight and spend the night in a hotel, usually around $110.

Sooooo it got me to thinking (never good for a Dis-holic, right!?)...

New plan:
Travel out on the last non-stop flight after work on Friday and spend the night at POP before AoA Little Mermaid wing opens (on the 15th).

My question:
How do I go about this?! Do I book a room-only at Pop for $120 and transfer over to AoA in the morning? Can I book the one night at POP and include the 9 Day MYW ticket with Free Dining, and then switch the hotel only to AoA? I am confused!

Any help will be greatly appreciated!

You would book the 1 night at Pop as room only, then start your package at AoA. Arriving late you prob won't be going to a park on arrival night anyway.
Next morning, check out of Pop, give your luggage to Bell Service who will transport it to AoA. If the Generation Gap Bridge is open, you can walk over to AoA to check in. Nobody seems to know yet if the bridge will open or not.

If it's not open, you can just go to a park after getting the luggage to Bell Service, then when you feel like it, take the bus back to AoA to check in. Easy.

But I couldn't go to the park without a ticket... I would need to check in to AoA before going to the park, right?

To take advantage of the Free Dining discount, you must book a package which includes, at least, a 2 day ticket for everyone in your party. (Booking 2 separate reservations with Free Dining, would cost you to lose the per day ticket discount savings.)

So, in your case, you would want to book your 1st night as "room only," then start your package at AoA the next day. So, 2 separate reservations.

Yes, you will need to get over to AoA and check-in to activate your dining credits.

As for tickets, there used to be something about being able to pick-up your tickets a few days earlier than check-in, but I don't know if this is still the case or how you go about it. However, since you'll want your dining credits, you'll still need to check-in at AoA.

Of the 2 times we did a split stay...

One trip, I called Bell Services to come and pick-up the luggage from the room, and then we went to check-in at the other resort, get our tickets and activate our package.

The other trip, we walked our luggage over to Bell Services, since our room was so close to the main building, and then we went straight to a park because on this trip, our tickets were attached to the 1st package and we just extended the number of days to include the second half our our stay. (This is what the above poster is referring to.)

Be sure to take anything out of your luggage that you want or need for the day, (or at least the next few hours) as it may not show up at the second resort right away.

If the bridge isn't open, ride the bus to the park nearest to your resort, hop off and then get in the bus line going to your second resort.

It was easy and all went smoothly both times for us.

Book one night at the Pop and transfer to the AoA. When you check in mention you are moving to the AoA in the morning. You never know they maybe be ready to take guest the night before the official opening.

So it looks like I will book a room-only night at POP, advise them at check-in of our morning switch, and hope for the best. In the morning we will call down to Bell Services to assist with the bags, check out and HOPEFULLY walk across the bridge to AoA.

OHHHH I am so excited! Hurry up and be done Summer!
