Help with Epcot and MK touring/ FP

So we are first time WDWers and traveling with a 7, 5, and almost 2 year old. I can start booking FP+ next week so I am trying to figure out a plan for EPCOT and MK.

We will be doing one EPCOT day and are starting with breakfast at Akershus and will try meet A and E right afterwards. Hoping to get a FP for FEA, but not sure if there will be any available. Does it make sense to continue out in World Showcase and do the whole thing since we are starting there, and then do Future World after an afternoon break? Or should we back track into Future World after meeting A and E and then save FEA and World Showcase for the afternoon? What would you suggest for FP+'s, besides FEA, for this age group?

For MK we are doing 2 days. A friend suggested splitting the park up by lands for each day, but I'm afraid my kids will love one land and then be bummed that we don't go back on day 2. I have the Unofficial Guide book with touring plans, but my husband is super hesitant to "stick to a plan," and it's been like pulling teeth to even get him to understand the need to book FP this far ahead of time. So I would like to keep it as "spontaneous" as possible (also not having any idea what the kids will enjoy or how they will react to dark rides), and still have FP's booked. Any suggestions?

The rest of World Showcase won't open until 11:00. After meeting A&E, I'd recommend heading for Soarin or Test Track (assuming your Tier 1 FP+ is for FEA). Your wait for either Soarin or Test Track may be bad, but it will only get worse as the day goes on.

If you get a Rider Switch pass for Soarin (or Test Track), the other adult could then ride later (plus the 7 & 5 year old could ride again if they want) through the Fast Pass lane. And then you could try to do the same at Test Track (or Soarin) if the wait isn't prohibitively long by that point.

I'd recommend scheduling the FEA FP+ for later in the day when doing World Showcase. My recommendations for your other two Tier 1 FP+ would be Spaceship Earth and Journey into Imagination (probably schedule these for late morning).


For Magic Kingdom, you'll definitely want FP+ for the 7 Dwarfs Mine Train. We like to ride Peter Pan right at Rope Drop so we can go through the interactive queue (you skip the queue if you're using FP+), but if you don't do Peter Pan first thing, then you will want a FP+ for it.

I think Peter Pan and Winnie the Pooh would be good rides to start the kids with to see how they react to dark rides, and for thrill rides, you'll certainly want to do 7 Dwarfs (and/or Barnstormer) before you'd try any of the kids out on Big Thunder Mountain or Splash Mountain (and definitely before Space Mountain, which your kids may not be tall enough for anyway).

Other good FP+ choices for any time after the first couple of hours the park is open (you won't really need FP+ yet at that time) are Enchanted Tales with Belle, Haunted Mansion, Pirates of the Caribbean, Jungle Cruise, and Buzz Lightyear.

Splitting the lands between your two days is fine, and I think your kids will enjoy all the lands.
