I'm totally out of my element here and could use some help. I'd like to purchase a DVD for a 5 year old boy, BUT...I'd like more than *just* a DVD by itself. Is there a "series" that comes specially packaged that would appeal to a young boy, or possibly a DVD with a book specially packaged? One DVD by itself just isn't enough for this particular gift and I don't know which way to turn.

Is it for the holidays? I thought last year the Polar Express dvd came with a book.

Thanks! This is actually for a birthday gift but happens to be 4 days before Christmas. Something educational would be a great choice and I've been combing sites searching, but no luck. It's been too long since I was in the loop for kids that age and it *shows*! :teeth:

Leap Frog has a number of good education (Talking Words Factory) DVD's out which you could package together a couple of. :)

My DS is 5 and he likes Power Rangers, Thomas the Train, Backyardigans, Scooby Doo, Arthur with the power rangers being a favorite. You could do:

a movie bucket - popcorn, movie, fruit punch, candy (target has cute popcorn holders for $1)
a movie and coloring/activity book combo with crayons

I bought DS who was three at the time a DVD set that was all about construction equipment (I know I could hardly contain my excitement  ). It was a four disk set, everything you ever wanted to know about road construction and then some. If memory serves me it came with a matchbox dump truck or something similar.

Not exactly educational, but my 5yo loves Spongebob, in addition to some of the other things mentioned.

What about Lazytown? :teeth: It's really great for getting them up and moving around, and Sportacus is probably one of the coolest superheroes ever. Not to mention one of the cutest.

I have the Samantha-An American Girl Holiday. And I got the Samantha series book set. The books are of such good quality. I don't have daughters, but got them for myself, and hopefully I will have a granddaughter someday to share these with . The movie is fantastic.

I'm sorry, I thought you were talking about a 5 year old girl. I should have read the post more carefully.

I "could" help you...... but then you would have to feed me! ;)

Actually, I can't help you yet, but let me see what I can come up with.
