We are looking to stay at GCV next May and I am wondering how many nights we should stay.

We are a WDW family, which is why we joined DVC, but now that DL is an option we decided to branch out next year. We usually spend a minimum of 8 nights at WDW but know that will be too many for DL. We will have a 7, 5 and 3 year old with us.

Any thoughts or opinions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

We are by no means DLR experts, but we have been, and we read up on the DLR boards here on the DIS too. Typically, most people say that 5 days is enough to see and do it all between the two parks. Many suggest that you spend some time seeing other Southern Californian attractions as well. We went in 2009 and stayed for 7 nights. We paid for the plane tickets anyway, so we decided to take it slow and enjoy. It didn't feel like too much to us. We enjoyed going at a leisurely pace.

We are going again in May 2011 and are taking my in-laws. They are only joining us for 4 nights, but my husband and I will be there for 6. We are going to fly out, so we know we'll want to get the most from our airfare. Also, we may be moving to the East coast in a few months, so we may have a 3-hour time difference. We'd rather have the extra days so we can sleep in or go to bed early if we want. We don't like feeling rushed.

I know I've rambled on :rotfl: - sorry about that! I highly suggest that you visit the DLR boards on the DIS to get specific information on parks, attractions, restaurants, etc. They are very friendly over there, so I'm sure they'll help.

Being an ex-CM and frequent DL visitor, the parks in Anaheim should only take 2 or 3 days to see, but there is lots more to do in southern CA. San Diego with it's world famous zoo, Sea World, Wild Animal Park, and old town town are about two hours away. In LA there is Olivera Street, where the pueblo of Los Angeles started, Hollywood, Universal Studios. For those inclined, there are a number of famous people buried in the greater LA area and cemetery tours can be found or done on your own. If you know where to look you can find Walter E Disney.

The VGC are easily accessible to the I-5 freeway and from there anywhere in southern California. I would allow a week to see things. If you want more info on things, just send a PM. I was only a CM for 3 years, but my DW Caropooh was there for 15.

Thank you!!

I just got off the phone with MS and was able to get a 2BR at the villas for 7 nights at the end of May.

I am really excited and can't wait to begin our planning.

alanapapa - I will certainly be taking you up on your offer so be on the lookout for PMs from me after we return from our Thanksgiving trip to WDW.

Thanks again!

don't forget USH:), there are several bus tours that will pick u up @ resort, some photo ops when driving past downtown LA too.

we combined DL with Vegas & Grand Canyon. Would probably add vegas again if SWA still had cheap flights available into SNA...which is a far smoother experience than LAX imo.
