One problem with the argument that Disney Princesses encourage little girls to have unreal expectations about relationships is that these princess movies were made in the 30's-60's when the majority of women were stay at home moms. It is more accurate to look at the current Disney movies such as Mulan and The Princess and the Frog. These princess stories showcase strong female individuals with their own ideas and dreams.
Current clothing designers and media portrayal scare the dickens out of me when it comes to young girls. Have you seen how short the shorts are this year? These girls on television, in the movies, and singing the top hits are all doing all they can to flaunt their bodies. Girls are encouraged to look very promiscuous, in my opinion.
