I was trying to find some places to try out while we are visiting in October. I found menus for DL and DCA but not for the restaurants in DTD. I know Ralph Brennan's Jazz Kitchen is pretty popular, but I was wondering if we should try the upstairs (fine dining), or the cafe(?), and is there a downstairs that isn't fine dining? I know Wolfgang Pucks is like this at WDW's DTD.

Of course we won't eat at all of these, but I'm trying to come up with a list of possible locations. We've had dinner at Blue Bayou before, so might try lunch this time.

So far on my list I have:
Naples - DTD
Catal - DTD
Ralph Brennan's Jazz Kitchen (cafe?) - DTD
ESPN Zone - DTD
PCH Grill - DPPH (going for the Kitchen Sink - maybe)
Blue Bayou - DL (lunch)

Off-site:
Mimi's
McDonald's
Denny's
IHOP
In-N-Out Burger :teeth:

Also, where might you recommend to have birthday meals? (Lunch or dinner) I had thought about the Vineyard Room but then I looked at the menu and not sure that the menu would go over to well with DBF. He's more burger and fries and I'd hate to go somewhere and order duck only to have him dip it in ketchup! :rotfl2:

Oh, and can you use the $10 ESPN Game Card to buy food or is that just for game stuff? I've never been to the ESPN place.

Thanks everyone!

In stead of going to Mc Donalds why not try In N Out Bruger twice? For me, it is a must during every CA visit.

I also love a place called, "The Hat". The Hat is famous for hot pastrami. There is one across from the Brea Mall just off the 57 freeway on Imperial Highway (about 15 minutes from Disneyland).

Lastly, a great meal can be had at Mrs. Knott's Chicken Dinner Resteraunt. Located outside of Knott's Berry Farm, the chicken dinners are the reason the park was built as they would generate such a long line Walter Knott built things for people to do while waiting. It is also great fun to browse around the shops in the area.

Hope you have a wonderful trip.

The only other thing I can suggest for birthdays is checking out this link. We will be doing the Plaza Inn Birthday Party when we go in Nov. For $10 each you get a cake to frost and decorate.

Hope this info is helpful! :goodvibes

Thank you very much for the links!!!
I had read about the cake deocrating but I figured it might be a little much since we won't have any kids with us. Just two upper-20 year old folks celebrating our b-days.

Have you ever ordered one of the birthday cakes from catering to have at one of the restaurants?

Oh, and I didn't mention that we are not renting a car while we are there. We are just going to take transport from LAX to the hotel. I'm hoping we can make it up to In-N-Out Burger but I'm not sure it's within walking distance, so we'll either have to grab a cab or make my brother come up from San Diego one day and take us. :teeth: The McD's is just a short walk from the hotel. :goodvibes

Ohhhh, c'mon--cake decorating for twentysomethings....it would be fun!! :teeth: Kidding--although I have read several people who didn't have kids and did it! ;)

I have never ordered one of the cakes from catering, sorry.

I hope you get your In n Out!! I am originally from So Cal so when we moved to Phoenix they didn't have them here--so everytime we drove back to Ca we looked SOOOO forward to In n Out. Now they are in Phoenix and I have one right across the street from my house so it's not as excitng anymore. :rotfl: I read in the In n Out thread below the post from rsjj about being able to smell the In n Out in the air and that's exactly how it is here too! :)

<---had the birthday party at the age of 36.

So, if I can do it, you can do it. It's fun and you do get a great photo op with Mickey/Minnie or both in birthday dress for your birthday.

Plus, you get to eat cake and groovy frosting and you might just win the contest.

You will love Mimi's Cafe' as they have a large selection of foods. Also we love Tony Romas (great BBQ) and both are walking distance on Harbor Blvd.

Just foud about the PCH Grill and that they have the kitchen sink. We have only done this at the BC and now we have one out here! My kids are very happy about that. :Pinkbounc

How about the Blue Bayou for your birthday lunch?

We loved Tortilla Jo's in DTD.. the food was great and there were very large portions.

Also don't forget about the ESPN deal if you are going to eat there.. it was good too.. HUGE portions... (like the pasta my dad had must have been about 6-8 cups of pasta. way too much!)

We've eaten at Mimi's in San Diego and it was really good. I recall leaving pretty stuffed! I'll have to add Tony Romas to the list.

I think Blue Bayou will probably be birthday lunch for one of us... but we have 2 birthdays to do! :teeth:
