Help with diabetic on pump

we are leaving an sept 21. to go to wdw. my son just started pump 6 wks ago. his nurse told us that she has had families who went to guest services and explained that he cannot wait in long lines while pump is disconnected and that disney would let him go through the disabled line? has anyone heard of this?

I don't believe Guest Services will help you with this, it really does not have to be taken off for all rides. Back in the old days without pump, yes, guest services helped us out, especially during the very hot weather, but not now, no reason for it, especially with fast pass. We have always tried to teach DD not to feel different, in my head this would, but just my opinion.

My DD19 has had a pump for 7 yrs, does not normally take off pump (Mini Med 722) for a ride, exception to this rule was "Krakin" at Sea World. If you are worried about it coming off she sticks it in the front, bellow belly button, so it really does not move. But "Krakin" is a inverted, upside-down loops and we took turns holding pump for her. Hopes this helps! I wouldn't trust anyone I don't know with holding this pump, since it costs around $8,000!!!!

What does she do w/ it on RNR, if she rides that? Is Krakin worse the RNR? DS didn't have problems on RNR or the Loch Ness Monster at BG, which has 2 loops.

We were able to borrow a b/c pump from DD's endo office and then of course return it when we get back. We also bring a back up glucose meter along with all the other good supplies she needs. Only once did her pump stop working when we were at Disney Hilton Head, Medtronic Fed Ex, overnighted a brand new one to her next day. We've been very happy with their service!

With RNR with just stuffed it don't the front of her pants or shorts, didn't have any problem with that one either. Because Krakin was brand new to us, I think just to be cautious, she felt better having someone hold it while she was on ride. I went on Krakin and even though it's an extremely quick ride and it has alot of irractic motion, I felt sick after it. She kept pump on and didn't have problems with RNR. My daughter's 19 now so I trust her to make the best decision on how to handle her pump, a lot different if your child is young.

Many people are told this by doctor's offices and find out when they get to WDW that it's not quite the way it is. Most attractions do not have special disabled entrances. Most of the lines are Mainstreamed so people with disabilities wait in the same line with everyone else.
The card she was talking about is a Guest Assistance Card and it is basically to tell CMs what your needs are. There is a lot more information about Guest Assistance Cards in post #6 of the disABILITIES FAQs thread (there is a link to that thread in my signature).
Post 3 of that thread has links to some past threads - and quite a few deal with diabetes and pumps. As, the experienced pumpers here posted, most people in the past have said they do not remove their pump for rides. Even if you choose to, there are many rides that are not 'wild' at all that you won't need to think of removing it for.

I've been on a pump for 10½ years. I worked as a College Program CM for 8 months during that time. I've vactioned to Orlando (WDW, Universal/Islands of Adventure, & Seaworld) four times during that same time span. Not once did I take my pump off. Sure, you may have to make sure that it isn't going to go flying and yank the infusion set out, but I can't fathom leaving something so valuable (not just monetarily) with someone whom does not have the resources to hold it for you.
I live near an amusement park (Cedar Point) that has far more intense rides than WDW. We've had season passes for many years there as well. Same thought process for me there. Make sure my pump is secure before I ride.
