hi
my family and I are thinking about having a change and staying at the Coronado Springs resort-we've stayed at Port Orleans Riverside and Caribbean Beach before- but we have a couple of worries.
Firstly what we enjoyed most about CBR, apart from the overall atmosphere, was having somewhere to sit outside in the evenings and watch the world go by, this was sorely lacking at PO, are there tables and seats to sit at outside at CSR in the evenings, after dark?
Secondly we have reservations because it is also a conference facility-I've read the reviews about the food hall but generally noticeable? are there a lot of suited men and women hanging around etc?

i'm sure all of this has been asked before but your advice would be gratefully received :goodvibes

I have stayed at Coronado Springs and I'll be back there for a second time in June. We love this resort because it is so relaxing. This resort caters to business travelers because of the convention center. There are more relaxinng adult areas in this resort because of it. I believe it is the only moderate resort with a spa/gym. Our favorite place to "people watch" is at the bar outside of the main building. There is a full outdoor bar along with tables and chairs. There are actually outdoor couches that are very comfortable. This area overlooks the lake/pond. It's nice to sit there during the day and watch the people on the small boats in the water and it is a wonderful place to relax and have a glass of wine once the parks close. They sometimes even have a band play outside at night. The one thing we like about this resort is the fact that it is so big, no area is ever too crowded. I recommend requesting cabanas 9b to stay in, it is the closest building to the main building, pool, and buses.

Hope this helps!

:happytv: We stayed at CSR in 06 and will be returning there this summer, we really loved the resort. I dont remember many outdoor seating areas except near the pepper market. We really loved the food, I think its pricey but we were on the DP so it didnt effect us. There were two conventions there while we were, that I noticed, did nt see any suits but we were at the parks all day. I wouldnt let that scare you away, btw, if you look at Buzz's csr pages you can see what conventions are scheduled for the times yoiu are visiting.

I should add - Most conventions take place in early morning - early afternoon. My boyfriend and I don't have children and we actually met a lot of nice people that we there on business and after their work is done for the day, they are just relaxing like the rest of us. We actually spent a lot of late nights at the outdoor bar with some of the business travelers. I don't think i saw 1 suit the entire time i was there.

The food - You can get everything in their food court that you can get in other moderate resorts but they also have stations for italian food/pizza/ asian foods. Definitly more of a selection. The food isn't wonderful but no worse then anywhere else. We didn't eat at the Mya grill, but i've heard that people enjoy it.

Another thumbs up for CSR. We stayed there for our first trip and then spent week one of our second trip last year. We spent week three at GF and three out of four of the family preferred CSR. obviously unlike lots of posters I have not visited most resorts to stay at however we did visit most for meals last time around and preferred CSR, AKL, GF and Polynesian (in that order). Enough said that while the budget couldn't reach to GF next year the family voted for the other three and chose CSR.

The seating as already mentioned is mainly outside pepper market and by the lakeside bar. Lots of seating near 4 pool areas.

IMHO Pepper Market is fairly average, haven't tried dinner at Maya Grill but out of 21 table service breakfasts last year we preferred Maya Grill to all others except CP.

It is a truly beautiful resort and the transport is outstanding. Some of the buses stop at a water park to and from the parks but many go direct. We never waited more than ten minutes for transport.

We saw many suited people in Pepper Market early in a morning collecting their coffees before conferences and that was it. Also, the bonus is that the pool areas are very quiet during the day as are the restaurants and the store. We tended to be in the parks in the evenings so I can't really comment on the business people in an evening.

Like others have said, there is a lot of nice seating in front of the lake outside of the main building and at the pools. Also, we loved taking advantage of the hammocks all around the lake! They were great! There is definitely plenty of seating.

You only see the convention people at breakfast and lunch. It didn't bother us at all as they were pretty quiet and obviously well behaved! We prefer that to the cheerleaders we've seen at the all stars any day :thumbsup2

CSR is a great resort. The resort was at capacity when we were there because of the conventions, but you would never have known it. We hardly saw them at all.

I love watching the boats and the world go by at POFQ. There are 2 areas there to do that. There are also benches by the fountain. But it sounds like you want a deluxe atmosphere out of a moderate.

Check out my CSR website below for pics and info. There are plenty of tables to sit outside at night and enjoy the atmosphere by the lake, enjoy a drink and all the lights shimmering off the lake.

I think you'll really enjoy CSR. If we couldn't unexpectedly afford to give the Poly a chance this year, we'd be going back to CSR.

It's a truly beautiful resort - especially at night. Lots of outdoor places to sit and enjoy the world.

We were never really impacted by the conventioners. Usually during our late afternoon break, we'd be in the pool and see them returning to their rooms. But other than that, we rarely noticed them.

Buzz thanks for posting your beautiful night pictures, I just booked CSR for August and now I can't wait to check it out.

We stayed at CSR in December 2007. It was the only time we had stayed at a moderate adn we had reservations before we went but we were thrilled when we got there.

It is a beautiful resort, lovely scenery and themed buildings. It felt very tranquil and we loved walking around the lake. As has been said already there is a lot of seating by the Pepper Market but there are beches around the lake and we had a hammock outside our building (Casita 5) which was quite a way around the lake from the Pepper Market.

We never saw anyone in suits and the Pepper Market was excellent with delicious food. It was a little annoying that you had the servers to seat you and get your drinks. When it was busy they were a little slow and we preferred just to organise ourselves. Which we normally did but we still had to pay a gratuity which was a little frustrating.

You'll have a wonderful time :)

That's right out in back of the main building. It's beautiful to sit there and look at the boats and wildlife on the lake.

I would also pick CSR! Many good places to sit in the evening to take in the beauty of CSR.
