Hi - We are going to WDW this Thanksgiving and hope to see the Candlelight Processional at Epcot. We didn't book a Dinner Package (very expensive for us and would really prefer not to spend that kind of money) but after reading info on this event, it looks like we may not be able to get in on the stand-by line. Even the article on DIS says that there are just a few seats held back for stand bys. Does anyone have any experience with this? Is it really vital to book a Dinner Package? Are any days of the Thanksgiving weekend historically less crowded so that we would have a chance at the standby line? Or do you recommend that we try to see if there are any dinner packages left? Thanks.

We'll be at the Monday evening showing (the 29th). I think that your best bet for non-pkg seating would be the early show on Sunday, the 28th. Until then it's going to be really crowded with a lot of people trying to get in the holiday spirit before they leave on Sunday!! When we were there in mid-Dec last year we did do the pkg and still had a wait of almost 45 minutes. The non-pkg line was just as long and I don't know how many of those people actually go in and had seats!!! It was also the late performance.

If you don't want to do a pkg but still want to see/hear it, then try just watching from the street area. A lot of people do that. It's not as comfortable but it sure is cheaper!!
