Help with CA schools question

I'm going to tag onto this thread to ask the flip-side of this question. When do most local schools return to school? My kids' summer break is June 17-Aug. 25, so I'm assuming we're right in there with most of them. I would guess that either end of this break might have lighter crowds than mid-summer. Do you think that would be correct? Any guesses on whether June or August might be better? Thanks for any feedback. My 5yo has led a deprived life and hasn't been to Disneyland yet. I was hoping that we could find a time that wasn't with the masses, but the school schedule keeps getting in the way.

We went to DL and CA in Sep 2003 - Sun and Mon right after school started. Monday was awesome! No lines! In fact at first it was too empty! We were the only ones in the tea cups We got to meet a bunch of characters on main street and get lots of pics and autographs. It was my DILs first trip so pretty special! I would go ahead and take your 5 year old out for the experience at this point! There are learning experiences at CA. Once they're older its harder to miss school

Thanks for the quick response. The problem is that he has a sister who'll be in 5th grade at the time and I'm not willing to take her out, so we're stuck going with the masses.

Most of the public schools in the area go back to school right after Labor Day.

It looks as if Disney is having the DMC premiere and a grad nite on the 22nd of June, it should be an interesting mess.

As I feared. Any feeling whether the 3rd week of June or the 3rd-4th week of August would be busier, or is it pretty much a draw?

We were there in the 2nd and 3rd week of August and it was extremely busy, so we are going back mid-June 2006. It seemed like June was slower a few years ago, but, I do not things will mellow until the 50th is over.

I went last year on June 25 and it was a madhouse...I would never ever go at any time in August unless I was getting everything and I mean everything free.

Put it this way.... Plan on every school having a field trip that month. There are so many schools and kids in the area that all you will find is school children. But if you go mid-week Tues- Thursday you might not find as many. As most are only there during the school hours..

Also that is the time of year that the CA Select pass holders can go for the last few times till the end of August. . So it will be crazy no matter what.
I admit I will be there as our pass expires and we are planning a trip to CA at that time just so that we can go.

Use a fast pass and be patient..

Also a FASTPASS does not have to be used with in that time frame. It can be used at anytime after the time displayed.. So say your fastpass is for 5:10-6:10pm you can go at 9:35 pm and they will accept it..

A hint I used on this trip now..

As far as the crowd thing-I too am trying to figure to go in June or July. Is the 4th of July as wild at DL as in WDW? Can you really use FASTPASS ANY time after that frame? But, I guess you wouldn't be able to get anymore until that time frame was up? I really also want to see the Pirates and if that is closed... How often do they open up earlier than is posted?
