I have booked a one bedroom standard view villa for the week of Thanksgiving. Where would this room be located according to the map (javascript:window.open('/dvc/modules/mapPopup?id=BoardwalkVillasMemberLandingPage','picture','scrollbars=yes,height=550,width=480'); void(0);) I hope this map thing works. Here it goes...

Well I am unable to post the short cut of the map of BWV. If anyone can help, i would greatly appreciate it.

To the best of my knowledge, the standard views are all on the front of the bldg...facing the driveway entrance. Although I haven't stayed in a standard view villa yet, my friend did, and I have to say that I really liked the view. I love the front of BW, and since there is a large expanse of lawn/trees between the driveway and the bldg, it isn't really loud.

The map I was looking at on the dvcmember website shows 3 buildings. A red, blue, and yellow building. (they were color coded on the map this way- as i am not saying they are this actual color). Can I request a particular building to get closer to the pool, bus stop, etc...

Here's a map of the resort:

Everything to the left of the pink line are Villa rooms.

Most of the Standard View room balconies are along the BLUE line that I drew. They face the U-shaped entry drive to the resort.

We've also stayed in SV rooms that I've designated ORANGE and RED. The RED location was Standard View because it used to have a view almost totally obscured by the DVC sales building. The building is gone making for a better view, but the location still stinks. Far from Epcot, far from MGM, far from the elevators and lobby.

The ORANGE location was much better. The view wasn't "fabulous", but it didn't bother me. There's a nice pond just outside of the balcony, but about 20' beyond the pond is the valet parking lot. It did have a very nice view of Tower of Terror, and is about the closest walk to MGM in the resort. (But it's also the furthest from Epcot.)

Hope that helps.

The BWV does not have separate buildings - it all one wing with one set of elevators just off the lobby.

On this map:

http://www.wdwinfo.com/resortmaps/boardwalk.htm

the standard view rooms are the ones between the tennis courts and the lobby (H). As mentioned, they overlook the resort entrance and the driveway leding up to it. The rooms overlooking the quiet pool (V) are considered PV (Pool & Garden), as are allof the other rooms that are not directly over the Boardwalk (L - Q on the map).

Hope that helps.

You can request close to the elevators (or not), upper floor (or lower floor, close to the walkway to the bus stop (U on the map),etc.

We love the standard view rooms and when we have a 1 bedroom, we usually request a dedicated unit near the walkway to the bus stop. Since we can use the stairways, rooms in that location are very convenient to the bus stop, the walkway to MGM, the parking lots and the quiet pool. Some in that area also have a view of IllumiNations higher level fireworks from the balcony. We don't always get our request, and can honestly say we've never had a bad view from a SV room - there is a lot of nice landscaping & flowers betweent he villa wing and the balck-topped areas.

Best wishes -

TJKRAZ,

Excellent description! Right on the money. Your analysis is completely factual. We just got back last week and stayed in a corner room right where your blue and organge lines meet. What a gret room for standard view points!

We stayed in a 5th floor 2 bedroom designated by the Red line in January, 2005 (the DVC building was gone, but, there was a white tent up at the point to shield the landscape construction going on) However, we were charged preferred view for this location ......the reason being we had a canal view. I know people in the past have said this area is a standard view, but, I checked our ressies for that stay and we were charged at the preferred point rate. Since we were on the top floor we did have a very nice view (barring looking down on the tent) My grandson loved sitting on the balcony and looking at the Friendship boats on the canal and the view of ToT at night. As a matter of fact, we're going in January again and staying at VWL and he's not real happy about not being able to see ToT from his room!!!

I suspect the higher floor(s) are Preferred View since the old DVC sales center wouldn't have really obscured the view. Our room was on the 2nd floor, and we would have seen nothing but that red and white striped DVC building if it were still present.

Thank you all for the info and additional maps. I may request a room at the northern most end of the blue line. Looks to be closest to the action (boardwalk that is).

If you do that, you will be in the villas closest to where all the cars being valeted pull up, the DCL and ME buses load and unload, etc.
Personally, we would go the opposite direction and stay at the sounthern most pt on the blue line. These villas are a walk from the elevators but are very nice for standard pts and much more secluded and quiet then the villas near the front entrance.
