I have to break down and buy a new car. I haven't had to do this for 11 years (thanks to my honda). We need a 2nd car. Anyone know how the gm discount works? What kind of discount do you get? Also, we were thinking of a Saturn Vue or Jeep Compass. Any opinions? It is such a stressful ordeal. I am dreading the whole process.

Ooooh did you pick a good time to look. This time of year dealers are clearing lots of the 2006s. Go this weekend, but do not buy. Hit a couple dealerships. Tell 'em what you want and let them bid against each other. By next weekend, which is a great weekend for deals, you'll have them chewing each other up for your business! Good luck!

ooh....you make it sound so exciting. I figured they were trying to get rid of 06 models. At least you made it sound like it is going to be fun. Hope it is! Thanks!

I am by no means an expert...(for the record, I drive a Toyota). But if you had a good experience with Honda before don't you think that it might be a good idea to go back?

Food for thought. :)

I hate 'dealing' for a price, I cant do it. He says "its 24,000", I say "I will give you 21" he says "no", I say ok

We just came home with a Saturn VUE a few minutes ago. It has a Honda motor in it. It's a V6 engine. It's loaded with toys - Onstar, heated seats, power seats, & all kinds of controls that look great but we don't know what to do with them yet. We'll have lots of reading to do this weekend.
Take a look at the Saturn VUE. It's really nice. Enjoy car shopping.
:drive:

I would buy another Honda in a second, but my husband doesn't want a foreign car. Although, they seem to outlast american made. I can't get thru to him.

My DFi gets employee discounting on several car manufactures...we just got 2 new cars through this program...GM H3 and Ford 500...we got a great deal on a 2006...0% financing...I know alot of dealers are having this program/deal...

Also, I turned in my Honda CRV 2005 for these cars :guilty: , which I loved but DFi wanted a more roomy truck. You cannot beat the price on the CRVs...I think fully loaded it was $25k...great gas mileage too. I think it was made in the USA as well...don't quote me on that though...

One of the girls DFi works with had bad luck with her Vue.

I don't know if I make much sense but wish you good luck!

Well, we went out today with an open mind. It wasn't soooo bad. Went to the Jeep dealer and felt like the sales person had better things to do, so we left without even a test drive. Went to Saturn. Liked the sales guy and test drove the VUE. I loved the car, but DH is leaning toward the Jeep Compass. I figured once I test drive the Jeep we can do the numbering game. Should I hold out after the sales person gives me his "best" deal to tell him we get a supplier discount? Or tell them from the start? I usually have my dad go with us, but he has retired in the sunshine state. So, I am relying on you guys for some advice and the internet too. I can't find anything specific about the discount on the internet. Any ideas of how much it is? Guess I could call a dealer tomorrow and just ask over the phone? I wonder if they would tell me.

I believe the supplier discount is the lowest they can go...ours is but it through DFs employer so I do not know much about the details.

It is the best thing. you go in and say you get this discount and they just tell you the price. I know DFi's prices for the cars were lower than what the dealer paid...the manufacturer just reimburses the dealer...does this make sense? I tend to babble...

My point is, if the discount you get is for lower than dealer invoice, tell them from the start or after you test...it will save time...

Good luck!
