I am approaching retirement age. DH is in school to be an Occupational Therapy Assistant. When we were down in August he noticed that the housing was cheaper and there were many jobs for him in the Florida area. I never thought about moving to Florida. I like the seasons. I am from Philadelphia PA and figured I would retire out in the boon docks somewhere. We are starting to look at housing in our area and really can't find anything nice for under $150,000. Now we haven't started "really looking", but have done some on line searching. I did the same searching in Central Florida and found tons of houses for under $100,000. Am I looking in bad areas or is housing really that cheap?
Is there a place I can go that talks about the different neighborhoods and where to buy and where to stay away from. We have no children and it is only the two of us. We own a duplex in Philly now, so we really want a single home with at least 3 bedrooms, hoping for four and a little bit of land. Any suggestions where to look, any websites I should check out? We have a year or two before we buy so we have lots of time. Just wondering if Florida is really an option?
thanks for any and all advice, Penny
(I am coming to WDW Thursday without Hubby and without a car so I will pick up a couple of local papers.)
