I am trying to decide which direction to go and I figured you experts could help

I am trying to decide whether it would be better to go ahead and pay $60 to join AAA to save about $200 at POR and add the dining package or wait a few more months and see if a code for the general public comes out which it is my understanding that that code would be more than the AAA discount. But if I wait too long for the GP code and for some reason one does not come out, then there is a good chance that all of the AAA rooms will be booked. Is it true that you can't add the dining plan to a room that was booked using a GP code. Also, if I book through AAA there is only a discount on the room not on the Disney Dining plan... correct?

Thanks for any and all help. Planning a Disney vacation is way too complicanted!!

I'm going to answer theeasier question first. You cannot add the MYW dining plan to a room-only discount. If you book a package (room + tickets), whether it's thru AAA or Disney, you can add the MYW dining plan onto it...but it can only be added to a package.

I suppose that choosing to join AAA just for the Disney room discount would be a gamble. Joining will save you $240 off the cost of your room, once you deduct the membership fee. But that's only if there are any AAA discounted rooms available for your dates.

On the flipside, if you wait for general codes, you may find yourself disappointed. There were none announced for the late April to July 4 period this year. The same might happen later this summer. And you would also have to decide how long to wait before giving up and trying to see if there are any AAA rooms left.

My own insticts are that there won't be general public codes this summer and you would be better off going with either a AAA package or a AAA room-only reservation. If you do the room-only ressie and general codes do come out, you can always try to apply the code to your room. If you do the package, it would be harder to do that. If no general codes come out (or if you tire of waiting for them), you can always change that room-only ressie to a AAA package.
