My DNephew's birthday is coming up in June. He will be 11. I always send a little something to all of my DNieces and nephews for their birthday-spending around $15. (I have 10, so I can't spend much more!) I have lived in another state since he was born, so I really don't know him well. His family (DF, DM, DSs, and DB) started going to WDW about 3 years ago, and last year joined DVC. They go twice a year now. I have narrowed it down to two things, maybe you guys can help me out.

1) Found really nice Cobra walkie talkies at Target today half priced for $17.00. Thought he could use them at home and at WDW.

2) Browsing in the WDW tourbooks at the bookstore yesterday, I spotted an Unofficial Guide to Hidden Mickeys. Thought he might enjoy finding them on their trips to WDW.

I think I may have to call his mother to be sure, but assuming he has neither of these things, what do you think he would enjoy more??

I can always rely on opinions from my friends at Dis!:chat:

I would go with the walkie talkies, but I would make sure he doesn't have any already.

What about Disney Dollars?

Hard to say; my younger son (10) would prefer the walkie-talkies; my older son (11, soon to be 12) would prefer the hidden mickey book. I'd recommend calling Mom and asking.

My son who is 12 says he would rather have the hidden mickey book. OF course, disney Dollars is a good option too...that way he can buy whatever he wanted when he goes on vacation.

My 10 yr old ds (and his little sister) got the Disney motorolas for Christmas, and they love them. I think the walkie talkies are a great choice!

My 11 year old son would LOVE the hidden mickeys book but both gifts sound great IMO. I should consult you the next time I'm stuck when I need a gift! ;)

Thanks for all the input! I already bought the Walkie Talkies because they were just so cheap, got another set for another nephew. Then started thinking about book I saw yesterday. Maybe I will just keep whatever I don't send him...Either way I win!!! :hyper: :bounce:

p.s. I did resort to emailing mom to check out the situation. Just to be safe...;)

My younger DS said he'd like DD so he had more spending money in WDW. The walkie talkies he said wouldnt do him any good there because they are with either DH or I the whole time.

My 11 year old DS has already asked for the Hidden Mickey book for our next trip, so I would have to vote for that.

As the previous poster said, my DS is always with my DH or myself when on vacation, so he really wouldn't need the walkie talkies. also, we already have a set of family radios.

i also think that Disney Dollars would make a great git.
