I need help. To make a long story short:
We have been to WDW 3 times, the last time was with a convention from DH's job. It was a trip we didn't plan, but ended up going on last minute. It happened that our oldest son turned 10 while we were there, so we did a birthday dinner at the restaurant of his choice to celebrate. (revolving restaurant at Epcot, can't recall the name).
Fast forward 3 years, youngest son asks for WDW trip for his 10th birthday, like brother got. We can't afford to go during the year he is 10, no matter how much we saved. Sooo... we managed to pull enough $$ to go in February, one month after his 11th birthday. He really really wants to celebrate his birthday at WDW, but I am not sure how to do it since it really won't be his birthday while we are there....
Can anyone help me out with what I could do to make it special for him, even though it isn't his day???

Thanks,
Marie

Just took my 16 yr. old there as a surprise b-day celebration (just her and me, her mom!) It was really 3 days before her birthday, but they way I looked at it, the whole purpose of us being there was to celebrate her birthday, regardless of what day it was. Make sure you have it on your ressie that it's his birthday; get a birthday button at each of the parks you go to and make sure he wears them (a CM sent us through the fast track line at Animal Safari when he saw her bday button, then the CM at the front of the line put us at the front of the jeep! The captain on the boat from MGM had everyone sing happy birthday to her); book a character meal and make sure they know it's his birthday- I posted a poll on the teen web and everyone preferred Chef Mickey's; I took her to the ice cream social, but it wasn't worth it; we had our son's hair cut at MK on his bday and they painted a mickey on his hair! You can also call your resort ahead of time or talk to the consierge when you get there and they can put a bday cake and balloons in your room while you're away; ask for a bday card when you get a pin or at the character meal and have characters in the park sign it. Have fun. My daughter said that she loved it that I let her decide what rides we went on and where we ate.

and again at 2. Both times we were there in the week or so surrounding her birthday, not the exact day. We celebrated at all the character meals we attended, and as long as the servers were made aware, she was treated extra special (confetti on the table at CRT & certificate, cupcake at CP, cupcake at CM, crown at Cindy's dinner, and painted cookie at PSB. She did wear the birthday pin for a bit, but kept taking it off, so I removed it before she stuck herself. You do not need to bring any proof of a birthday or anniversary to celebrate at WDW!
