Help with baby girl names

We have Linnea Anne. Linnea comes from the name of a Swedish flower. My wife being from Sweden we thought it appropriate. And Anne is my sister-in-laws name.

I kinda like the idea of having a few names picked out and waiting for her to show up and see what fits. If something doesnt hit me really hard that I just cant live without. LOL I may just do this. I've struck off Madison because I seen it on the popular list as number 3 I think. So theres one down. What about Madeline Danielle? I think thats kinda cute dont you? We could call her Maddie. Yea, thats got a nice ring to it. Hum.....I may just run that by hubby when I get home. (Im at work by the way)

My younger daughter is named Gabrielle (she's the blonde in the photo). My older daughter is Isabel-the brunette in the photo below. We wanted names that sounded alike but looked different.

Be aware that people are going to want to shorten these names-Gabrielle is definitely 'Gabrielle' and if people call her "gabi" then she either totally ignores them or says "My name is Gabrielle". Usually that's enough to get people to stick with it. Isabel just ignores people until they use her name correctly.

My mom wanted to name me Chynna when I was born but my dad said he refused to name his daughter after 4 billion communists :rotfl:

If we had another daughter (and I think we're done!) we had the name Allegra (means soft in italian), but then the darned drug companies came out with the allergy medicine of the same name...

Congrats beautybelle-

I think it is a great idea to have a few names picked up & see what "fits".

When I was pg with my first child, she only lived for less than an hour & I was grateful we had a few choices that we'd decided on. We named her Grace Cecelia (middle name was my grandmothers) and feel we were graced with her presence in our lives.

Our other choices were:
Natalie Lynne
Olivia Grace
Madeline Rae
Grace Kelly (our last name is with a K and I thought it would be too much, but it does sound nice!)
Madeline Claire

GL with your choice. One thing I've learned with my child care center and being in my son's classroom is that uniquely spelled names can sometimes be difficult. I've seen children really cringe when their name is mispronounced and it can be hard to find personalized items. Not sure if that makes a difference to most people but I hated having a (last) name that was never pronounced corrently. Just my .02!

Our family is very traditional -- we name the first girl after the grandmother. Guess you could say we "recycle names." We also prefer names that are gender specific.

My oldest is Cathleen Helena (both grandmother's names)
my next one is Rebecca Carol (I'm Carol & Rebecca was always my fav girl's name)
my granddaughters are Helena Caroline and Isabelle Kathleen

For the boys, there are more named "John" than I could possibly list. Too long a story to tell, but it is still my fav.

Beautybelle, I should caution you that if you don't like Madison because of it's popularity, Madeline seems like it's just as popular. My big turn off to the name Madison was how popular it had gotten since I first decided I liked it (which was in 1997), but we both liked it so that's how it was decided to be her name. We have only ever met 1 other Madison IRL so far, but we have known countless Madeline's (there are 2 in Madison's preschool class of 12-one who goes by Maddie). I love the name and almost named Madison that instead, but my husband didn't like it so that ended that. It does seem to be just as popular though.

My DD's name is Alexandra Lucia. I also like the names Adrianna and Gabriella.

Congrats on having a little princess.

OP, I definitely think that Madeline is increasing in popularity, but I just  that name. DH vetoed it, but he is probably right, it didnt sound as good with our last name. But I once knew a little Maddie, she was so sweet.... :flower:

We liked Hailee and Hannah, but ds was a boy, and thats good, cuz both Hailee and Hannah were in the top 10 names that year, so I was glad I didnt have a totally popular name too. My name was so popular in the 1980s and I got so tired of being called staci b. in school instead of just staci.

Ds has a fairly unusual first name but a very traditional middle name:
Tavian William. But hes a boy so i guess that is totally off topic!

DD8 is Kaitlyn Hannah ( Hannah is my Mother in law's maiden name)
DS 5 is Braeden David MacDonald (His two middle names was my grand dad's name, oH and obviously my mom's maiden name)

3 DD here
Shelli Renee
Emily Kate
Haley Elizabeth

If my grandson had been a granddaughter: she would have been Ryley Christine

i named my baby (project..im only 14!) Fiona Rose
my friend named her's Calista Madaline
and there was the usual ESPN from the guys

i like the name Erin Elizabeth Mary....because its mine!

Congrats and good luck finding a name!

My DD is Gemma Heather - Gemma because it means 'precious' which, after four years of 'trying' she most certainly is and Heather as this was my late mother's name and I wanted to 'honour' her!

I think someone already suggested Gemma Danielle earlier but I think that sounds really nice. I don't know about over in the states but in the UK, Gemma was a very popular name a few years back and there are lots of girls between 14 and 20 with the name! However Gem is only 5 and she's the only one in her (quite large) school with the name. I know one of the boys in her class has a baby sister called Gemma but it's not that popular now!

Oh and it's easy to spell!!!! :flower:

My oldest DD is Isabelle Rhiannon (Belle) we tossed around Claire too but decided on Isabelle.

Youngest DD is Amélie Juliette (Ami) I also liked Elodie, Zoe, and Genevive, but DH nixed those fast!

My SIL is pregnant and I can't wait to find out what they name this little one, French and artsy!

justthat: I hope I didnt offend you when I was talking about Madison on the popularity list. I seen your little girl and she is truly a little doll and I would never say anything to hurt your feelings intentionally. If I did please accept my apology. And I think her name is beautiful. :flower:
Ok guys, Im home now and I ran it by my hubby and he loves it. I think we may have landed on something solid here.
I cant wait for my little princess to get here. I HAD to run out and buy her first little doll, its soooo soft and the cutest little pink and white sleeper. Boy Im gonna have fun with this.

Oh, no, not at all. And thanks for the compliments! I'm sure your little princess will be a cutie too! I'm not sure if I really said it, but the only holdup we had on the name Madison was that it was #3 in popularity. I really didn't want her to be one of 5 Madison's in her class. But we couldn't even decide on a middle name till a month before she was born so we decided we'd go with Madison anyway since we both liked it and couldn't agree on anything else! It worked out well for us since we haven't met many other Madisons yet. But because of how concerned we were with popularity, I wanted to throw it out there that Madeline is very popular too, which I never would have guessed till I started meeting so many.

Like I think I said, I liked the name Madeline too, and really thought it would be cute cause I loved the Madeline books when I was younger and thought I could get her lots of Madeline stuff, but my husband vetoed that. She still does have lots of Madeline stuff anyway and thinks it's very funny when we say "Madison let's read Madeline."

I have 3 children My oldest is my DS his name can be either boy or girls
it's Avery Taylor and I also have 2 DD who the older DD name is Alyssa Elizabeth and my youngest DD is Ayden Victoria . Yes they all have A's and Y's in there names it wasn't planned didn't even realized til after they were all named.

My little princess is Harper Jo. princess: My name it Kelsi which seems to be really popular now. I am the oldest one around. :teeth:
I like taking last names and making them first names. I had a nurse after I had Harper that loved her name. She said she likes to look through the phone book at last names.
I also agree with someone's previous post about having y's in names. I think that is cute too.
