Help with baby girl names

Our DD11 is "Samantha Joanne".
She often goes by Sam or Sammi.
Sometimes we just say "Jo".

When she was little we called her "Sammi Jo".

DD11 caught us by surprise (3 1/2 wks early) so when the nurse asked, "What's her name?" we looked at each other and said "Megan Marie". Had tossed a few names around but hadn't settled on one we both liked until she showed up.

She is Megan, named in honor of a childhood friend, Meg from Little Women (tho she acts more like Jo) and M&M, sweet through and through. :cloud9:

Love thinking up names :flower:

We have two dd's ... our oldest, princess: Julia Beatrice (Bee-uh-tris) is four years old and our youngest, princess: Olivia Pearl is two.

Other names we considered were Sarah, Ella, Jillian, Emma-Claire and Hannah.

Good luck :sunny:

Kerri

Our DD (just turned 16) is Paige Marie (Marie is a family name for all the girls in DH family).

And she has always been known as Paige Marie not just Paige. We liked it because it is a name that can grow up with her...DH and I tried to give her (and DS Jordan) names that would fit them in their adult lives as well as when they were children...after all, they have those names for life.

DD is planning on name a girl (someday!) either Dahlia or Megalyn.

Amanda Christine
Whitney Me'chel
Kirsten Paige (sounds like Kersten not Kiersten)
Kayla Anne

My daughter Whitney we thought for SURE was a little boy. SURPRISE! No names picked out and just came to us. My daughter Kirsten did not have a name until 2 days until she was born...we could not agree on a thing. We knew she was a girl for about 4 months by then. I agree that once the name clicks you will know. All of my daughters seem to mirror their names somehow I couldn't imagine calling them anything else. Though Amanda and Kayla are now popular Whitney and Kirsten have NEVER had another little girl in their class with the same name.

Kelly---mom also to 3 boys Paul James, Zachary Stevens, Jamison Patrick

We had 3 boys (lost one at 21 weeks) so the 4th pregnancy I just knew we were having another boy and very excited! I have always gotten along better with boys it seems. I NEVER would have found out the sex ahead of time if I had even had the slightest inkling that the baby would not be a boy. So of course "It's a girl" They had to tell me 3 times and I still said, "But you don't understand...we don't know how to make boys" Well Mrs.M...you do know how...and you did. I actually really struggled with the thought of a daughter until one night laying on the couch I sat up and said, "Oh my gosh she can have a PONY" (I used to ride) Since then it's been all sunshine and smiles. i now think everyone should be blessed with both sexes. It's just wonderful. My daughters name is AUDREY GRACE. We call her sometimes Audrey and sometimes Grace , but mostly AUDREY GRACE. Her name means Noble strength and Grace. Who wouldn't want that for their daughter?!?! Good luck with your pregnancy. And don't let anyone sway you on your name choices. When I was pregnant and told people we liked either Audrey or Grace, we got lots of not so nice comments about Audrey. irony is we've have received TONS of compliments on her name since her birth. Her looks match the whole Audrey Hepburn thing as she is a "dark Irish" HUGE blue eyes and dark hair.

My DD, who will be celebrating her 8th birthday at WDW next week, name is Audrey Kelly. We also heard an earful before she was born, saying it's too old fashioned. And once she started pre-school, it seemed like a lot of old fashioned names started to become popular again. She is still the only Audrey in her K-5 school, but we know of at least 3 Audreys who live in the area born to friends of friends in the last 3 years! Now we never hear anything negative about her name. I also like Coletta, Magaret, Grace, Jolene.

Our little suprise princess is Anna-Jewell McKinley princess:. Jewell was my grandmama's name and McKinley is one of my fathers multiple names. Poor man has three grandsons and none share one of his names and McKinley is the only one of his that would remotely work for a girl.

My princess' names are

Emma Elyse- almost 6, Emma was my great grandmother's name. Her nickname is Emmers

Molly Rose- 18 months, Molly is after both my grandmothers, Mary, we just used the Irish form. Her nickname is Mo

I also love the name Maggie, it just did not sit well with our last name. If I had another girl, which will probably never happen, she would more than likely be Tessa

1st Family Trip November 14-19 2005
Engaged at the Wishing Well at Cinderella's Castle June 1997

Our DD is Olivia Grace. I have loved the name Olivia since The Cosby Show, way back in the day. We only knew of one other Olivia that isn't a close friend of ours, so we figured it would a unique name. HA HA, the joke was on us. It one of the most popular names now and we always meet little girls named Olivia or someone who has an Olivia in their family. She'll probably have at least one other Olivia in her class at school! Oh well, we still love the name!

I really like names for girls that could also be boy names...

We thought our DD4 was for sure going to be a boy (though we didn't confirm) and to our surprise it was a girl! She was "Baby girl Parker" for 24 hours because we hadn't really decided on a girl's name...

She is now Addison Lane (Lane is her Daddy's middle name) and we call her Addie! It was unheard of then, but I hear it more often now... bummer!

I love it because it's different (but not weird, if you know what I mean.)

If she had been a boy, she was going to be Chase and now, I think Chase would've been a great girl's name!

My favorite name that my friend was thinking of is Vivian Claire I can just see a little 18 month old.. "Vivvy" and a teenager/ young woman "Viv"
I'm still bummed she changed her mind on that one!!

Whatever you decide.. it will be the perfect name.. and within days.. you won't believe you even considered any other name!!!

I have 4 daughters....
Brooke Danielle
Morgan Lily
Avery Madelyn
Peyton Olivia

Thank you for all the input and the congrats. Heres what I've been thinking and tell me what you think. First off definatly Danielle for a middle name. First names: Gabrielle, Jenna, Madison, Amber. I also played around (a lot) with the name Maggie, I absolutly love that name but I cant really think of a suitable middle name because I keep thinking Danielle is too modern to go with an old fashioned name like Maggie. I am tickled silly with the the thoughts of a little girl but Im going crazy with the naming. LOL My boy name was Harlen (loved it).

Those names were all on our list for our daughter too! We also thought (well, I did, not my husband) that she'd be a boy, so we had a hard time picking out a girl name but had our boy name all set. We both knew her 1st name would be Madison as we liked it for years, long before it became as popular as it is now. But we had no idea what her middle name would be. My husband really wanted Amber, which is my confirmation name, but I thought she should have her own name. Otherwise that would have been my 1st choice. I loved Jenna, Olivia, and Gabriella, but my husband did not. We finally agreed on either Julia or Alyssa and went with Madison Alyssa cause we thought it flowed better than Madison Julia.

For our next baby though, it will be very hard to agree on a girl name. For a boy we're still set on Henry Joseph (Henry is my late dad's name and Joseph is my husband, FIL, and GFIL), though Henry seems to be the name of every little boy I meet now. For a girl, I really like Tierney, but my husband hates it and says she'll be called Tyranny. He says we'll be going with Julia, but my fear with that as a 1st name is that she'll be called Julie, which is an okay name, but my college roommate's name, so it reminds me of her (which isn't really a bad thing, we got along, but still).

Anyway, congrats on your little girl!
ETA: Madison started preschool last month, in a school that goes from 18 months to 12 years, and in the entire school there's only 1 other Madison, and she's 6yo. Really surprised me since it's I think the 3rd most popular name so I thought for sure there would be one in her class (there's 12 kids) but nope. My 4yo niece, however, is named Maya and we all thought that was unique and there are 3 of them in Madison's school!

My daughter's name is Kaitlyn Summers. I chose Kaitlyn so she could be called Katie or Kate.
If I had another daughter I would name her Rachel or Riley.
My best advice is just have a couple of names picked out that you like and see what fits her personality once she makes her grand entrance.
Congratulations!

Our dd is Grace Margaret, and we call her Gracie. We also liked Natalie, well, I did, my husband wasn't so sure. Margaret is my mom's name. If we have another girl (someday) it will probably be Madeline Paige and we'll call her Maddie. We liked Logan, Caleb and Jack for boys.
