I'm not sure this belongs here so moderators please move to the appropriate board.

I'm a lurker more than a poster because I don't have much to add right now. We've only been to WDW twice (3rd trip set for Jan 10) so I'm still learning.

My spouse has some mobility/stamina issues and will use an ECV while in WDW. He can walk and stand for periods of time but too much means his legs go numb and he goes down. He can transfer for rides and has no problem with the jolting and bouncing.

My specific question concerns Space Mountain. He rode last year with my DD and sister. For access I believe we were sent to the actual Fastpass line area. Apparently it was a bit of a walk inside so they had him transfer to a wheelchair which my sister pushed up the walkway.

This year we are on our own and I DON'T do roller coasters. My 9 year old can't push him up the entry so my question is - can I push him up, somehow escape the ride (possibily w/wheelchair) and meet them when they disembark and wheel him out? I think I'm talking about a "chicken exit" type thing.

Sorry to be dense. Any info/ideas you have would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

This is the correct place.

In many attractions, he will be able to use the ECV until he boards the ride.
Any thrill rides do have chicken exits, so you would be able to push the wheelchair to the boarding area and use the chicken exit. The non-thrill rides don't have chicken exits, but all the thrill rides do.

For Space Mountain, it has been undergoing a renovation. There were rumors that the boarding area would be changed and that they may be adding a way to load people with disabilities in a different area that allows more time for boarding. I have not heard about changes to the queue, but expect it will be more accessible.

SueM Thanks so much for the quick reply. I'm aware Space Mountain is finishing a rehab. The rumors of a soft opening this week is what prompted the question. :). THanks again

You will have no problem getting out of the line. Just let the Cm's at the entrance know and the nagain let teh ones working the ride know and they will point you in the right direction. Have a great time.
