I'm looking for help wiith my current booking. I'm an AP holder and booked at Christmas on a bounceback offer which gave 30% off. I've got a 10 night reservation at the GF stay CL in sugar loaf. My reservation is from 28th July to 7th Aug. I've seen the summer AP offer for 35% off until July 31st. When I enter our dates to check prices, if I enter the full 10 nights the price is actually higher than what we're paying? When I enter the first four days only, the price is lower than what we're paying.

Are we unable to claim the discount as our stay extends beyond the 31st July?

Thanks for your help.

Correct, you are not able to use the discount on any nights past July 31st. Room only discounts work that way. Package discounts like Free Dining are different. For package discounts as long as your check in day is within the discount period you get the discount for your entire stay.

Thank you,
I understand that I can't use for any dates past July 31st but can the discount not be used for the dates July 28th - 31st inclusive?

I guess I don't understand what you're asking. Let me see if I got everything straight. You currently have a 30% off room only discount for 10 nights. When you try to use the Summer AP 35% off for those 10 nights your cost goes up. I would expect your cost to go up as the AP 35% discount can only be applied to 4 of the 10 nights, the other 6 are rack rate. If you enter only the 4 nights that are available for the AP 35% discount then your total cost is less. Again, I would expect that as you are only paying for 4 nights instead of 10 AND you're getting a better discount. Am I missing something?

If you are trying to get the summer AP offer on top of your bounce back, no you cannot do that. You can not "stack" discounts.

If I am understanding what you are trying to do, you would have to make a new reservation for the first 4 (?) nights using the AP discount, then see if they would take those 4 nights off of your bounce back reservation. If that were possible, you would have to have 2 separate reservations. With two separate reservations you run the risk of having to change rooms, even if you booked the same category room for both reservations.

I don't think I explained myself very clearly - sorry.

I was hoping that I could use the AP discount of 35% for the first four nights and keep the bounceback for the remainder of the stay but now realise that even if this was allowed then I run the risk of having to change rooms.

Thanks for your help.

I now understand! I don't want to run the risk of a change of rooms and I'm very happy with my existing bounceback so I'll stick with what I've got.

Oohh....now I gotcha! No need to be sorry, no worries. Enjoy your stay!

It may be that there are no more rooms allocated to the AP discount on those nights. AP discounts are limited in number per night and not guaranteed to be available.

Just to be sure you are aware of the options: Yes, you can have back to back reservations, one using your (pre-existing) bounceback, and then a second (completely separate) using AP discount, or any other discount you want. (You just run the risk of having to change rooms - as you already said - and even if you don't, you do have to check in again. Just fyi, not only do you run the (perhaps small) risk of having to change rooms, but you can also be 'homeless' or without any room on change-over day. It happened to us at POR once (because check out time is early than check in, and the room they have you in for the 2nd stay isn't always ready early.) i'm sure that's very rare, though.
