Help with Another Booking Question

ok - Need BCV or BWV for Jan 3 - 8 (check out 9th) (own at SSR)

Should I book on June 2 for Jan 2 - 7
Call MS and cancel the 2nd and add on the 8th?
Would Disney cancel just 1 night for me (at the beginning) and tack on another night at the end of the reservation?
Is there any benefit in doing it this way - a day ahead to ensure getting most of my nights reserved or am I missing something? Thanks to all the veterans who know the answers to this stuff!!

Yes you can do a reservation and then change it like you note, taking first day off and adding another. It is call "walking the reservation." Real issue you face is whether you will find anything at 7 months out at BCV or even BWV for that time of year particularly for January 2 or January 3 which are still part of the holiday crowd nights (mass exodus does not really begin until the Monday after New Year's, which will be Jan 4).
