Does anyone have any experience with allergic reactions to certain types of glue??? I have had this reaction before to superglue. I swell up around my eyes and get welts around different parts of my body, and I itch ALOT.

I used liquid band aid on Monday of this last week and I woke up the next morning w/ swollen puffy eyelids. I have been down this path so many times before that I knew right away what it was. I started taking a prednisone pack that day in the afternoon. By Thursday it was SO much worse, I don't think it has ever been this bad before. I am SO itchy and my eyes keep swelling more and more, I can barely see and I look and feel awful. I have huge itchy welts all over my neck and I have been living on Benadryl since Thursday. I went back to the Dr. yesterday and I was given a shot of steroids and he said I should see a difference in about 24 hrs.. That has came and went and still no relief, if anything it is even worse.

Please help I am miserable and depressed. Any ideas as to what else I could do to make this go away???? I only have one more day left to take on my steroid pack and by now I am usually almost 100% better......

Thanks

Sorry to hear you are feeling bad. Take an antihystimine (sp?) such as Benadryl. I hope you feel better soon.

Ah, yes. It sounds like you are doing all you can already. I'd call the doctor again, at least to let him know how bad it still is.
Are you also using benadryl or cortisone cream? That won't make you over do on meds.

And I've been there. I'm hoping you feel better really soon.

:wave2: I also have severe allergic reactions that cause hives and swelling of my lips, eyes, cheeks, tongue and sometimes the soles of my feet! You're on the best meds you can get to reduce the swelling. Benedryl tablets and spray will help with the itching. You can't use Benedryl around your eyes though. I usually put a bag of frozen peas or corn over my face, with a towel between me and it. It's more comforable than an icepack. I hope you feel better soon.

I agree with the benedryl. I would use the liquid at this point and find something else for a topical. I have heard if you use both oral and cream together you could get to much of the benedryl. This is mostly for children, but I would guess that it is the same for adults also. Good luck and I hope you feel better soon!

Try an Aveeno bath and cold compresses to help the itch.

And I'd talk to the doctor. The steroid pack should ahve worked by now, and I"m wondering if there isn't a different allergen still at work that is continuing to cause a reaction because you haven't removed it from your diet or environment.

You have my sympathy, I've been through ti an know how terribly uncomfortable you are. :grouphug:

I would call my doctor and see what he thinks.

I've BTDT. The prednisone coupled with the steroid shot should have helped by now. I think you are doing everything over the counter possible. While I hate epinephrine injections, it will work quickly but it is brutal to take.

I assume the shot was depo-medrol, do you know how much. I usually need at least 125mg to see any results.

I'd head back to the Dr or to an urgent care place. The medrol/predisone dose-packs don't do anything for me. They may set up a longer predisone taper and put your on a stronger antihistamine like atartax or zyrtec.

Oh and the Aveeno baths do help.
