Thursday at 1:55, I can go online with Air Tran and do the online check-in. My question deals with seat assignments. We have 2 family groups flying together , one family of 4, one family of 3. Do we choose seats, or are seats assigned? Is there any chance we will be able to sit together, or can we forget it? I can't imagine they would have my children sit seperately from an adult-could they? I'm getting nervous about it... Any help is greatly appreciated!

It's been awhile since I did this, but it was pretty easy from what I remember. They gave a diagram of which seats were available and you get to pick. The plane we were on had 2 seats on the left and 3 on the right (facing forward, coach). Unless the plane is full and everyone checked in ahead of you, you should be able to get your seats together.
Have a great trip!

It all depends on how many people bought higher priced tickets where they could get seat assignments when they booked. You will get to pick from the rest. Chances are there will be empty seats in the back, keep in mind that's where the engines are (not under the wing).

I have used the AirTran on line check-in and it is very easy.
Make sure you get on as soon as your window opens...I believe it is 24 hours before your flight leaves. In August when I got on their web site it would not allow me to pick the seats until maybe 10-15 minutes past the 24 hour mark. I don't know why that happened, but just wanted to give you let you know.
A diagram of the plane will appear and it will show you what seats are taken and which are available.
Just click on the seats you want (one at a time) and the process will lead you on to print out your boarding pass and then pick the next seat. Keep going until you have all your seats and your boarding passes.
I really doubt that you will have any problems all sitting together, but don't delay getting on the AirTran web site.
The seats on the left are two-seaters and the right is for three so plan ahead of time what you prefer.

Thank you for the responses! I'll give it a go tomorrow, and if there is anything new to report I'll post!

I, too, don't think you'll have a problem if you check in early; our experience has always been that we found seats together somewhere.

However, just FYI, airlines CAN separate parents and children, though, of course, everyone's reluctant to do this and most passengers will willingly switch seats to allow parent and child to sit together.

Good luck!

Thanks for all the help-we just went thru the process-very easy and all 7 of us did get seats together. I used the seat guru site to avoid seats in the very rear of the plane. I was happy that I could quickly choose seats for all of us, then go thru printing them out one by one. Many people had the same idea I did-as I chose seats for all of us, you could see the plane filling up.

How does it work for the way home if I don't have a printer with me? Can I call for seat assignments 24 hours in advance?

I'm curious about that as well. What do I do for the return trip? I have no experience with these last-minute seat assignments as I've always flown USAir with my seats assigned in advance!

Is there somewhere at WDW that I can get my online checkin and seat assignments 24 hours in advance?

I was told that there are public libraries as well as Kinkos availble nearby. Never done it before but I will be trying it in November

Several people have posted in the past that you can go to the Disney hotels with convention centers. They have areas with computers and printers that you can use (for a charge) to pick your seats and print out your boarding passes.
What we have done is have someone at home (or maybe a friend) pick out the seats the day before we leave Disney. They printed out the boarding passes and faxed them to our Disney resort. The front desk calls you when they get the faxes.
This worked out very well for us.
Another other option is to have someone pick out your seats so you know you will be together. Then at MCO go to the airline ticket window and they will print out the boarding passes for you.

Thank you. I knew I read somewhere that it could be done on Disney property but I couldn't remember where. I tried a search but I'm apparently not very adept at searching because I can never find what I'm looking for.

We won't have a car this time so I can't go off site to do it. I'm sure CSR has a convention center, and I would think that the Swan/Dolphin should also, right? Any others?

Thanks again!

There is an Internet access phone that takes credit cards in the back of the Morrocco pavilion in EPCOT's World Showcase. It is basicly a monitor with keyboard and about the size of a pay phone. I used it on our last trip & it worked out great. Only cost me a buck to boot instead of the $10 - 15 the resorts want. You cannot print from the Internet phone but you can do everything else such as choose your seats. You can pick up your seat assignments at the Airtran counter upon arriving at MCO.

Sorry this info was a day late :o
