help with a weird FP+ problem

My 60 days started today. Like everyone else i went for E&A and SDMT on our MK day. We have 4 people in my family, 2 adults, 1 child and one <3y. I wasn't able to get E&A on the first day of our trip for all of us together, o i tried booking for just me and was able to get times for E&A, SDMT and one other. I then tried to copy the FP+ to the other 2 members of the group, but that didn't work, it kept trying to change E&A to meet Cindy.

So then i tried to book FP+ for the other adult in the family and i actually got E&A, SDMT and a third one, not for the same times as me, but all for times which overlap. So now i have FP+ for times which work for 2/3 members of the group. I tried to copy the FP+ to the child in my group from the second adult and same problem as above.

Ok, I thought, not a big problem, I would book separate FP+ for the child, even if i couldn't get FP+ for her for E&A, i could for the other 2 and i could try to get E&A at for her as the trip got closer. But here's the problem-- she's 5 years old and the system won't let me book for her without also booking for an adult simultaneously. So now i can't get FP+ for her unless i cancel FP+ for one of the adults. Like i said, i'm willing to keep trying multiple times per day to copy over the FP+ reservations to her, but I'm worried that, in addition to the E&A being old out, soon the SDMT that we already have will also be sold out, making the copying even more difficult.

Any words of wisdom or support on what to do in this situation?

Thanks

I've been able to move FP around several times and the availability changes over time. Our dates for A&E were 1/3, 1/4 or 1/5

My suggestion is to keep trying back. Also, look for different times to cover 2 folks in your party. Limiting yourself to the time you've already selected may not work.

At one point, when I couldn't get the same time for everyone, I chose FP+ times that overlapped. They were separated by 15 mins or so. On the phone, they can book a time for your child alone - I couldn't do this online, I don't think (that or I did something wrong).
Good luck!

Book the child with an adult, let the system change to the stuff you don't want, then go in individually and change everything back to what you DO want. Do the adults first, then the child. I think you'll have to do this on the app rather than on the computer...with the app, you get to chose everyone individually, so you can just select the adult and move the adult's FP+s around. If you chose the child before an adult, the system will force an adult with the child. But if the child is the last one left, there's no adult to attach it to and you can move the child around at will.

We also have a 5 year old, and this is how I handled his FP+s for the hard-to-get attractions. As long as he already had a FP+ in the system, and as long as I changed his last, I was able to move his FP+s around without an adult being attached to him.

ETA: I don't use the Copy feature at all...it screws things up to easily. For me, it's much faster just to book individual FP+s for everyone by using overlapping times.

Thanks, i tried the phone app and was able to book for the child separately. Still no E+A for the child (only for the 2 adults), but the other 2 experiences overlap for the three of us, at least.

If you never manage to get an A&E FP+ for the child, remember that one of the adults can lend his/her MB to the child - assuming the adult is willing to miss that experience, LOL!

unofficially, that's the plan, but didn't want to say that, i feel like the board is a little funny about breaking/bending disney rules sometimes :rotfl2:

I guess since the tickets state they are non-transferable, it must technically be bending the rule, but I think it's pretty commonplace to switch bands among family members. A CM at a ride that my niece *could* ride with her FP saw her change her mind sbout riding and suggested to her dad that he could ride with his own, then use her band to ride again. I didn't think twice about it breaking a rule, felt a lot like giving away your unused paper FP under the old system. We were in the park, with a valid ticket used for admission that day. I think it's different from using a dozen bands from old trips or guests not even there that day.

What date are you looking for? Our 60 day mark was last night/this morning too and I snatched up a couple of A&E FP+ spots for our party of 4. We'll be cancelling one of them (probably Sunday, Jan 25th around 5pm). I'm not sure how the system works but I can let you know when we're going to cancel one of them and maybe you can pick it up.

thanks for the offer. I'm always impressed by how kind people are on this board!

I was looking for the 23rd. Still looking for one on that day, but we were able to get FP+ for all of us on a day later in the trip. The 23rd is our first day there; i knew there was little chance that we'd even get one for that day, so i feel lucky
