Hi all im hoping to be at WDW in October 21and I always spend a lot of time and have everything planned well in advance.

So far I have
Tusker House - (Breakfast) Loved last time we went although I had strep throat and couldn't eat (they brought me some ice cream) for the breakfast one, we also went at lunch a few days later and I could eat.

Be Our Guest - Again we enjoyed last time, yes I think its overpriced, but one of my 9 year olds said can we go back to the place where you can eat everything on the plate (meaning the edible paper) so looks like we will have to go back.

Trails End, Boma, Sanaa ,Garden Grill are all carry overs from our last trip as we enjoyed them.

Hollywood & Vine - I know its not the best food but the selection of seafood last time we went was actually quite good and enjoyable, so we will go back again.

So our new ones for this trip so far are:
Hollywood Brown Derby - I want a Cobb Salad.
Yak & Yetti - we couldn't get in last time.
Tutto Italia - one of my 9 year olds loves lasagne so after asking on here we've decided here.
San Angel - as below thought it may be a nice change.

I have a few questions that im hoping you might be able to help with.

1. Whats the chances of Hoop-De-Doo being back on I thought I had read somewhere the cast has been recalled?

2. We fancy something different this time than the previous times where I picked popular decent restaurants and spent a lot of time watching reviews, My wife quite fancies San Angel Inn, some reviews seem OK but nothing special but the menu looks different from our norm of steak, pasta fish etc. So what are your thoughts on San Angel is it worth a visit?

3.Any other different restaurants that you think are worth a visit.

Your plans sound great! I like San Angel Inn - the atmosphere of eating inside the pyramid is amazing and quintessential Disney - but would agree that the food doesn't quite match it. It's good but nothing I leave raving about. I will also say that, pre-COVID, the tables were uncomfortably close together. I prefer La Hacienda across the walkway (dinner only). I think the food is better and while it lacks the pyramid marketplace atmosphere, it is a beautiful restaurant and did offer some fireworks views from some tables (not all). All that said, the memories I have as a kid of eating inside the pyramid are :cloud9: . I've dined there since but just saying as a kid it was mind-blowing just to be in there (bonus if you get a table by the ride and see the boats going by)

As for spots to consider, I really love Topolino's (Riviera Resort) for either breakfast or dinner. Breakfast is a modified character meal ... the characters (Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Daisy) are done well, it's fun, and the food is great. I would go there for breakfast without the characters. At dinner no characters but the food is also delicious. Service has always been great there. The Riviera resort is really pretty and on the Skyliner. Beautiful views from the rooftop deck at Topolino's (can't dine out there but can walk out and there are some small seating groups).

Yak & Yeti is great. Consider the Landry's card - you do pay for it but also get an immediate credit in the same amount. It allows you jump to the front of a walk-up list. We used last month without a reservation and were seated within 5-10 minutes (this was right at open).

Editing to add: I didn't include initially b/c wasn't sure if you were planning to visit Disney Springs but Boathouse is terrific. And really fun to sit outside and watch the boats.

Hope you have a great trip!

We just got back last month... We decided to eat at several new places this time around.
Honestly... BOG isn't over priced if you eat the the right entrees. The Lamb Chops or the Filet... Those are typically $40.00 anywhere on property, $10.00 app is standard and a $10.00 dessert is fairly standard, that's $60.00 plus a drink $3.50 that's $63.50 and you are eating in the castle! It's $62.00 for adults. We eat there every trip as we enjoy the classic French food and the ambiance. Personally, I think spending $29.00 for Lasagna or some pasta dish at one of the Italian places that I can make at the house for less than $3.00 per serving is highway robbery, but people don't seem to complain about that. LOL
We also like San Angel... Keep in mind it's "Mexican" food, not "Tex-Mex" so it's not crispy taco's, burrito's, chili con carne enchilada's. It's Mexican food, like in Mexico! LOL
We are from Houston and are crushed with Landry's being that Houston is the base, so we always were leery of Yak & Yeti. But we gave it a try this past trip and had a very good meal. So much so that it will now likely be on the rotation of must eats. It was a nice flavor profile break from so much continental fare and French leanings that tend to dominate WDW restaurants.
I'm still a Tusker House person for character meals, plus it's in the park and we don't have to go out of my way like the resort character meals.
I really missed not eating at Boma last month as it wasn't open.
The surprise of the trip was Raglan Road really good food and great entertainment for the price. I would have felt fine taking my own kid in there at young ages, as my wife and I don't drink alcohol and are not bar people whatsoever.
If you are just wanting a Cobb Salad, the outdoor Brown Derby lounge offers it as well.
Boathouse is one we eat at multiple times on our trips, the entire menu is very good.
Sebastian's at CBR, if it's back open was a surprise during one of our trips pre-Covid.
We surprisingly missed Ohana, (dinner) Mainly again, because it's a different flavor profile.

Thanks for that. Im not sure about Topolinos always seems to get good reviews just doesn't jump out to me although the Bouillabaisse does jump out at me.

Im from the UK so don't know about the Landry Card, do I just purchase one in the restaurant and then use it for discount?

Oh and yes Disney Springs does offer a lot of options for us but we tend to be all day park goers with 2 9 year olds that need to eat not too late. We remember when they were 5 and we tried going to the parks then around 7pm go to a Red Lobster or similar outside WDW and they fell asleep before eating, that happened the first 2 nights so that's when things changed :)

Also think the kids will enjoy the pyramid.

I agree with you regarding BOG it is expensive but broken down as you said it is about right, we had the Filet also last time and it was a nice meal, also when compared to CRT which we enjoyed the atmosphere but not so much the food BOG is better value.

Thats one of the draws of San Angel for me that the food is Mexican I don't do Tex-Mex :) saw a nice review the other day on it and the food looked nice.

Looking forward to Yak & Yetti and love Tusker House Character Dining so will see what its like this time around.

I find it difficult some times as I am a chef by trade (Although last 20 years have been in IT) and if we didn't have 2 normal (fury) kids I would be eating at a lot different restaurants but you gotta cater for everyone :)

Will have a look at the Brown Derby Lounge also thanks for that.

Disney Springs has a lot id like to visit but time out of the park with 2 9 year old boys is not easy

San Angel Inn is always one of my “must do” restaurants. I’m from Southern California so I have a lot of great Mexican food options locally. San Angel is solid. But it’s really all about that atmosphere of eating inside the pyramid! Try to get a table by the water.

We really enjoyed San Angel Inn, well husband and I did. We are from Texas though and know the difference between Tex-Mex and real Mexican food. Our son is picky and didn't like the cheese they used in his quesadilla :sad2: Husband had the pollo mole. It was pretty good. It wasn't as good as the James Beard award winning restaurant here, but we would eat it again in a heartbeat. I think I had the pollo with poblano cream and rajas. I remember it being good, but I remember that horchata margarita(s) being very good:drinking1

Hollywood Brown Derby is one of our favorites. Even picky son loves the steak. They don't offer the same menu though at the lounge; they do offer a smaller version of the cobb. The lounge is great for people watching and usually shady. It's completely outdoors but with umbrellas for the tables.

Yak & Yeti was much better than expected, but I would do Tiffins anyday over it.

Tusker House and Garden Grill breakfasts are family favorites. Hope they open up soon for breakfast.

Obviously, Boma and Sanaa are amazing, especially Sanaa. I was sicker than a dog, diverticulitis/colon problem, and in terrible pain whenever I ate during the first part of our July trip, but I just had to eat at Sanaa, knowing there would be a price to pay besides the bill. It was worth it.

The only one we have tried is Tutto Italia and we have eaten there several times and always enjoyed our meal.

Here's the info on the Landry's Select Club. I'm not sure if they'd mail a card to the UK but it looks like you can manage your account online. You can purchase in restaurant but it says it can take 24 hrs for the credit to show in your account so that might not work unless you can purchase early in your trip for use later. You say you're a club member at the podium to get on the priority walk-up list and/or your server will likely ask if you are a member when preparing the check and apply any credits.

Side note - Brown Derby Lounge is fantastic but currently only serving drinks (no food). Hopefully that changes as things start to go back toward "normal."
