Help with a dying fridge

Normally we look scratch and dent. We actually got a deal on our washer that way. It has a debt on the side, but it's by the wall so you can't see it anyway.

I wish we could wait until labor day, but i don't see it lasting that long. Thank you all for all the tips! I really do appreciate it!

When my refrigerator went out last summer, I looked online at Lowes and found one that would fit my space (it's an older house) and that I liked. I applied for the Lowe's Credit card at the same time and got a discount and six months interest free. I paid it off in six months. Plus I saved on the city sales tax (just paid state tax). Delivery was free and they took the old one.

FYI: You may be able to make a few dollars on your old fridge. Our electric company (Georgia Power) will pick up the old fridge & send you a check for $50. So you might want to check with your power company for something like that. My DD has done that 3 times in the past 5 years. First the fridge that came with the house went out, then she bought a used one that later needed replacing and once someone just gave her an old one that we didn't need.

I would stay away from Kenmore. Had one, nothing but problems. Didn't have it very long & found out they stopped making parts for it. Probably because it was such a poor product. Wasn't cheap, about $2800 10 years ago. Just moved. Thought if I needed new fridge would definitely get an LG. I go to Home Depot now for appliances. Much better experience than Sears.

LOL. LG makes Kenmore refrigerators.
I can't speak to the long term health of Sears, but unlike Best Buy, Lowes and Home Depot her, they usually have appliance in stock and available for immediate delivery, which is critical if your fridge is dying. The others need 5 to 14 days to ORDER what you wanted. We bought our Kenmore 27 cubic foot side by side from Sears. They had it set up next to the identical LG model. Literally the name tag on the front, and the brand name of the water filter inside were the only differences.....oh, and the Kenmore was on sale for $250 less.

Our fridge/freezer did the same thing back in January 2015. What we did was to look for stores that were having sales on appliances and visit them to find the best deal.

And don't wait until it goes out. When ours was dying, my wife and I visited all the local stores that sold refridgerators/freezers. Other than the very basic model, pretty much any other model had to be ordered and would take three weeks to arrive. My guess is that stores were (are) keeping a minimal inventory. We ended up buying our new fridge/freezer at Sears when they had a really good sale going on. But, it still took three weeks to arrive at the local store.
