I am leaving in 6 days from the DFW area. I am undecided on which route to take. Any suggestions
would be greatly apprecitated. Which way is best? Take I-20 to Shreveport and then I-49 to
Lafayette then to I-10 to Florida or take I-20 to Jackson, MS and Highway 49 to Hattiesburg
then Highway 98 to Mobile and then hit I-10. Going through Jackson looks shorter but you can make
better time on the interstates. Any better routes that I missed? Thanks

I used to live in Quinlan, which is about 45 miles east of Dallas, and we always took 20 to 49 to 10. I just checked for driving directions on www.cnn.com, and I think that's what it was saying to do, too. It had I-59 on there after 49, but I think that's because 49 doesn't go quite all the way to the coast. I would definitely stick to interstates if you can.

Check out www.aaa.com for lists of current interstate construction.

WE're in Hot Spring AR
And went down 2 weeks ago. The trip was NOT bad at all. We will be back!!!

We went down the later of your two ideas.
take I-20 to Jackson, MS and Highway 49 to Hattiesburg
then Highway 98 to Mobile and then hit I-10.

Roads were not bad and it was nice having the check points. Seemed like it went quicker.

We stopped over night on the way there but did it all in one day on the way back.

Approx time for us 15 1/2 hours.

We had a vcr/tv for the kids which helped alot!

Good luck!

Thanks for the great info. I did a check on several websites and the milage is about 35 miles
longer going down I-49 through Louisiana. I think I will stick to the interstates
going there. I would probably lose the time slowing down for towns and traffic going through
Mississippi. I praying for rain in Florida-don't want a year of planning ruined because of fires.

5 days and counting...............
