Help! Which room type at CSR?

HI, I have found that if I change my dates slightly that I can get CSR to be available. This is one of the only resorts we have not stayed in. I have been reading but am overwhelmed by the room type choices bc of locations.

There is Standard, Waterview and preferred available, but nothing else. Preferred is about $50 more than Standard.

This will be in June and the Dig Site will probably be more important than the lobby. I have 3 boys and we love to have a pool break every afternoon. Then again, they also love to walk and get a drink, etc.

I was planning to book Preferred, but have now read that those are Far from Dig Site. Is Standard closer to dig site? Waterview doesn't guarantee right next to Dig, does it? If so, should I choose that?

Preferred is in Casitas, and not near the Dig Site, as you have read. Standard and Waterview are throughout the rest of the resort. Booking one or the other is not more likely to put you near Dig Site.

Water view mostly says you'll be in the Lake side of a building, not near the feature pool. Standard is garden or parking lot views, but can also be near the pools.

LOVE CSR. Stayed in all three sections.

Waterview only means facing water. I would not pay extra for it without a balcony. (did our first trip, not since)

We always book standard, rather spend my money elsewhere.

We request Ranchos which is where the main pool technically is located. We love the imagineering.

Some Casitas rooms are far from the main pool, even the farthest Cabana room is not far.

I usually try to box my requests there: Ranchos and Courtyard
Have always loved my room and usually in put in 6 B.

Walking from Ranchos to main hub is not bad, 5-6 minutes at most unless we stop to look at the wildlife since there is a bridge from the main pool area to the main building.

Thanks to both of you. I just modified online and booked Standard, so I did not have an option to put in a request (That I noticed.) What is the best way to request location?

Call the main reservation line and add any requests to your reservation. This can be done anytime from the day you book up until 4-5 days out.

THIS. When I used to call I gave specific building and nothing else.

Now when you do online check in you are given a list of items you can "request" by picking two. That is where I pick courtyard and Ranchos.

Call and have your request noted. We booked a standard room and requested/received Cabanas 9A. It was steps to Bus Stop 1, a quick walk to the lobby/food court, and just across the bridge from the Dig Site.

I would request an area right now, rather than a building. As they refurb, they are closing entire buildings at a time. In theory, an assignor would see your request and put you nearby, but practice is doubtful.

These are all great suggestions and much appreciated. However, having not stayed there: how should I phrase my request? Especially given the last suggestion of area vs building bc of refurbs. Which words or terms do you think I should use to be near to Dig and not too far from El Centro?

Also, isn't there QS place at the Dig Site? Does this eliminate some of the need to be close to lobby or is it very limited choices there?

I think Ranchos is closed for refurb so your only options are Casitas or Cabanas, neither of which are really very far from either the dig site or El Centrol so I'd just request a floor. A lot of people make it out to be a huge resort but really, it's not that far from any point to another. I was in Cabanas 8 (can't remember the exact building but the bus stop was one building over and the quiet pool was right beside it) last Sept. and found the walk anywhere actually pretty nice. Yes, you can get limited QS at the pool.

Closing an entire section is doable at CBR because each village is small, but at CSR closing Ranchos would close about 1/3 of the resort. I would imagine they are only closing one building at a time.

I do agree with asking for a section not building. I used to do that but since my requests noted on my reservations stopped being honored I have switched to online requests and they have always been fulfilled.

I would just say "Room near dig site" and have them note that. If you add the bit about El Centro, I'd worry that they would put you in Casitas which is a futher walk from the pool.

As far as QS place at the Dig site - there's a bar with a refillable drink station and a snack bar. It's a very limited menu and I believe the hours are limited as well. I don't think they serve breakfast either. The main QS is in El Centro.

No the QS place at Dig Site, Siestas, is much more than that and they do offer breakfast.

They are a mug refill station. Plenty of tables. We eat there during pool days.

Lunch they offer burgers, wraps, salads, tacos, sandwiches, wings, nachos.

Breakfast they offer waffles, breakfast platters, breakfast sandwiches, oatmeal/fruit.

Today's hours are 7:00 AM- 9:00 PM.

Good to know. I don't recall it being so robust.
